MVA then Medical Management experiences?

Hi all
First time post here hoping for some advice :)

I started to miscarry my first pregnancy just under 3 weeks ago, I went to hospital with bleeding and cramps on the Saturday night & a missed miscarriage was confirmed on the Sunday. I was booked in for an MVA 5 days after that. The MVA process was awful for me personally, they had to do the procedure twice and still weren't sure that it had worked fully so they booked me in for a further scan 2 weeks later. That scan was today, they have confirmed that there is still something showing on the scan and basically the same 3 options are still available to me as previously. I have chosen medical management as I can't face the MVA again & really just want this horrible time to be over now. I am booked in next week for part 1 Monday, part 2 Wednesday. They have booked me in for the whole day for the part 2, does anyone know if this is normal? Also does anyone have experience of medical management following an MVA? I am reading medical management can be painful and wondering if it will be the same for me even though I only have a small tissue / clot left. Really dreading any more pain, the MVA has freaked me out a bit!

Thanks in advance <3 xxx

Hi
Sorry to hear about your experiences. I haven’t had medical management after MVA but I have had a second lot of medical management for retained tissue. I was told that it would be less painful and less blood than the first time given there was only a small amount remaining, so hopefully it would be the same for you. I didn’t actually find the first lot of medical management very painful, but maybe I was lucky. I can’t comment on the second time as it actually didn’t work and nothing happened.
I was given the first tablets at the hospital though and told to take the second doses 48hrs later at home which is a bit different to you.

I hope everything goes ok for you.

Hi Nat
Thanks so much for your reply, that has made me feel a bit better knowing the medical management isn't always painful. Had my first tablet today and they said the staying in hospital all day is just a routine thing to monitor the blood loss so feeling a bit better about that too. Hopefully in a couple of days it will be all over 🙏
Thanks x
