When will I actually start to bleed properly?

Just that really. So sad and fed up. I am roughly 5 weeks pregnant but had an early scan and blood test due to pain and spotting on Wednesday and there was nothing on the scan but a thickened womb lining. No signs of ectopic but they couldnt 100% rule it out. HCG was only 79 so they said probably wasn't a viable pregnancy, had a blood test again friday and sure enough levels down to 59 so they said can expect to miscarry soon. They're reasonably confident it's not ectopic due to low and dropping HCG but I have to go for another scan next week to make sure.

I'm really fed up and just want it to be over now. I haven't had any proper bleeding yet, just on and off brown spotting when I wipe - not even enough to stain underwear. I assume as there was nothing in the womb then there isn't much to pass but surely I should at least be having period style bleeding? Any experiences?

I can’t only share my own experience. We went for a early scan 6 weeks 2 days, the baby stopped growing that day we later found out, I started to naturally miscarry when I should have been around 8 weeks. A few days later a scan confirmed everything had gone.
It is a rubbish situation, take it step by step! Be kind to yourself 💐

In my case there is no baby, just a thickened womb lining. Like a chemical pregnancy really except that my period was due June 16th so with a chemical I should have already started bleeding properly by now. So fed up. If anything today the spotting has almost completely vanished.

I'm really sorry you're going through this. I had a miscarriage confirmed at 10 weeks but no idea when it stopped progressing. I had 5 days of very light bleeding, enough to need a pad but never close to filing a pad.

@Clyedey I am hoping this means all the physical stuff is finished for you 🤞 it really is a horrid situation. The body is clever but also cruel I had pregnancy symptoms right up until my first AF 😞

I just don't see how it can be because the bleeding has been absolutely minimal, it hasn't even stained my underwear! Surely I've still to shed my womb lining as you would with a normal period?! It's so confusing what's happened. I've no baby or sac in my uterus but the doctor tells me it's not considered a chemical pregnancy as my period is now much too late (was due on the 16th) and HCG too high for a chemical (but too low for an ectopic). They say what they think happened is the egg was fertilised but failed to implant, which I thought was a chemical. Apparently not.

So confusing and still so in limbo.

Have you got a follow up scan or HCG monitoring? That should help put your mind at ease. You should also use a pregnancy test after a few weeks to confirm HCG is out of your system
I spotted a tiny amount of brown for two weeks and then blood for 5 days but it definitely not as much as my period. I wish I knew when I lost my pregnancy. Although it was a confirmed miscarriage by 10 weeks all the signs seem to me to indicate it must have gone much earlier. The not knowing is so hard.

I had a scan yesterday which again showed a slightly thickened womb lining and nothing else, and HCG bloods were taken - should get the results today. No bleeding for a full 24 hours now.

HCG levels have plateaud. So fed up. Don't know what's happening.

I really feel for you, am in a similar sort of situation myself and the uncertainty is just exhausting.

I got a positive test on 12th June. Started light spotting on Sunday 19th. Had a scan on Wednesday due to the bleeding but couldn't see anything at all (would have been exactly 5 weeks going by LMP so probably too early to say) so have to go back this Thursday. Bleeding is still happening so we're on day 9 now but only when I wipe; nothing close to a proper period & don't need a pad / nothing on underwear. No pain, feel a little queasy & pregnancy test is still glaringly positive within a second of the wee hitting the test!!

I've not had any blood tests but hoping Thursday will give me an answer either way as there should be something to see by then if all is normal.

I don't have any advice for you but just wanted to let you know you're not alone! I really feel for you & hope you get some definite answers soon. What have they suggested the next course of action should be?

I’m currently in limbo too, fell pregnant on the coil but scan yesterday didn’t show anything except the coil is in the right place. Took bloods then and will again tomorrow to monitor change in hcg.

Feeling sick and completely off food like I’ve been in my previous pregnancies but the tests I’ve taken are faint - maybe getting slightly darker but so hard to tell.

so sorry you're going through this. I lost 4 pregnancies (1 ectopic and 3 MC) and each experience was different. With one MC nothing really happened but my next period was really heavy and painful. When I asked the midwife why I hadn't bled after a couple of weeks she said that not all women do bleed and that the body can just reabsorb any materials. With one MC I bled heavily quickly.
I was desperate for it to be physically over so I understand how frustrating this is and it just prolongs the trauma. But, I've discovered so much of pregnancy and loss is waiting. Good luck OP

Sorry to hear nothing more has happened. Did they give you any sort of follow up plan if nothing changes?

My blood tests results came back with tiny hcg levels of 7 (unchanged in 48hrs) so they think the coil is still working, just taking its time and the pregnancy will ‘resolve itself’. Have to take another pregnancy test in a week to check it’s turned negative. I’m not bleeding though, and still feel sick like I’m pregnant, which is just a nightmare. How I can even feel pregnant at such low hcg I have no idea 🤷🏼‍♀️😭

I'm in a similar boat, had a scan last Saturday when I should have been 8 weeks pregnant, turns out the embryo had stopped development at 5 weeks.

Just waiting for the bleeding to start. I still feel really pregnant and nauseous. If it doesn't start spontaneously I have to go in on Friday for medical management.

The waiting is horrible 😞.

I've had a final scan today (again nothing seen) and now have started to bleed in earnest with a negative pregnancy test so looks like my levels have finally properly dropped. Not the outcome I wanted but prefer this to an ectopic and grateful things are happening now. Thinking of all of you in a similar boat x
