Medical management

Hi Everyone,

I vowed that I would come on here and share my experience of medical management of missed miscarriage.

After reading some of the reviews online I was so frightened to take them as it seems some people suffer so much when taking them.

I can honestly say my experience was fine. I should of been 9 weeks and I has nothing but a heavy period and bad cramps for 2 hours manageable by pain killers.

im aware that everybody experience is different but I just wanted to share mine to add some positive experiences into the mix that could potentially help somebody.

Hello @Jess19736

Thank you for sharing your experience. It’s really good to hear another medical management story that wasn’t horrendous (physically at least, emotionally is another story).

I too had medical management on Tuesday this week, I had one tablet of Mifopristone followed by 4 tablets of Misoprostol 48 hours later.

Can I ask please if you had the same medication? And if so which one prompted the passing?

I was told by the doctor the first tablet would do very little, and to prepare myself for the 4 tablets on Thursday. However I had terrible cramps and passed a lot of blood and clots between midnight and 6am after the first tablet only. I wasn’t expecting it, so didn’t even think to check what I was passing (I’m now hoping it was the baby so that this doesn’t drag on). When I took the Misoprostol I really prepared myself for a terrible time, and absolutely nothing happened, I didn’t have any more cramps (the mild cramping from Tuesday was still there, but nothing extra). I was still losing clots but they were definitely from Tuesday rather than the extra tablets.

I have a scan on Thursday to see if everything has gone (which I am so hopeful for, as bleeding is very minimal now).

Lastly just wondered if they’ve scanned you and if everything passed? Sorry for all the questions, I’m just yet to find someone that had their miscarriage from a Mifepristone tablet. My experience was also nowhere near as bad as some of the dreadful stories I have read, which worries me that everything may not have passed.

Thank you in advance!

Hi,

aww I’m so sorry you have had to go through this also.

Yes I had mifepristine 48 hours before taking the misoprisotol. Nothing happened for me when I took the mifepristine however my doctor did advise that this causes some women to miscarry without needing the mifepristine.

when I took the 2nd tablets misopristol I started to bleed heavily and began shaking. A few hours later it felt like I laid an egg (only way I could describe). When I looked it was just lots of blood so I didn’t investigate further.

It sounds like you may have passed everything with the first tablet so when it has came to taking the 2nd tablets there has been nothing there to expel.

I have been scanned and it has worked for me thankfully! Hope it all works out for you xx
