Still bleeding at 4 weeks

At the end of March I found out I had a miscarriage (around 8 weeks gestation) at a private scan. This was confirmed a few days later at my local EPU as a missed miscarriage as I’d had no pain/bleeding. As I had already had a previous miscarriage in October 2020 I opted for natural management rather than medical. And bleeding started end of April.

My previous miscarriage heavy bleeding and clots only lasted for a day then was more like a period for the next 4 before stopping. So I expected this to be the same. However, this time heavy bleeding was on again off again with me still passing clots 3 weeks later. Tomorrow will mark 4 weeks since I started bleeding, although I am no longer passing any clots the blood is still bright red in colour and heavier than my usual period. I’m also still occasionally getting some cramping, however this is no where near as bad as it was at the start. I did a pregnancy test at 3 weeks which came back negative. I’ve rang EPU and told them and because my test came back as negative they’re not concerned and said this is normal. I’m just wondering if anyone else has experienced a miscarriage that lasted this long before as it’s so different to my first. Im so tired all the time and just want to be able to start moving on with my life

Hi there, I saw your post a bit too late. I hope you figured out the solution for the bleeding issue by now but if you haven't here are my two cents:
In 2021 i went through a similar experience. I bled for 50+ days after my mmc. After trying a lot of different medications such a bc pills etc. Doc figured out that i have pcos and gave me a progesterone only pill. It worked and stopped the bleeding! Maybe you could look into that. (I later found out I have PCOS as well). Look into pcos.
Is there any chance there are any pieces of the embryo/fetus left inside you that are causing this bleeding? If possible ask your doc to perform or schedule an additional US.
Your body may not be ovulating properly after the mc. Sometimes, when our brain fails to ovulate on time, bleeding does not stop.
Best of luck.
