Have I had a miscarriage or not.

So here's the thing.
Tested positive on the strip tests and clear blue came back as 1-2.

I had light brown spotting bleeds, so attended the EPU 2 weeks ago, on my first visit my HCG was around 90 and 2 days later it dropped to 45. By this stage the clear blue went to 2-3 but the nurse confirmed miscarriage with the falling HCG.

I was told to ring back in 2 weeks if the pregnancy test is still positive. Strip test immediately showed positive and another clear clue still showed 2-3.

I had a lot of bleeding and clot loss, cramps etc. But how is it possible about the tests.

Has this ever happened anyone before and did it turn put to be a wrongly diagnosed miscarriage.

I'm secretly praying for this.

Hi,
Sorry to hear what you're going through. I'm not an expert but since your HCG was falling and you've had cramping and bleeding I'm afraid it does sound as if you've miscarried. I've had 3 miscarriages and for me the absolute worst thing about them is the time in limbo when you still have that tiny shred of hope, even though logically you know it's likely the baby's gone.
Since you're still getting a positive pregnancy test I'd say you need to phone your pregnancy assessment unit and see what they suggest - you probably need a scan to see if there's any tissue left.
Really hope you get everything resolved soon, good luck.

I'm so sorry you're going through this, how are you doing? My HCC had got higher (1000 the only time it was measured) but it took 2 weeks from confirmation of miscarriage for a negative pregnancy test. That was 3 weeks from bleeding starting and 5 weeks from brown spotting starting. It's so awful to know you've miscarried and still technically test pregnant and have those hormones in your system.

I've had multiple miscarriages and the falling HcG is a sure sign.
The fact is while there is any product in there from the miscarriage you will continue to produce the HcG to get a positive test, which is why they want to know about it.
Please contact the EPU so that you can organise medical or surgical management.

I am so sorry for your loss. Flowers
