RMC tests? Did you have to wait 6 weeks?

Hi ladies,

Have just miscarried for the 4th time. I was referred to RMC after the third, and was given blood tests on CD5, and told to come back 6 weeks after negative pregnancy test for additional blood tests. And that was it.

Is this normal? Is there not more that could be done in the interim? Did everyone else have to wait 6 weeks?

Really grateful for any experiences xxx

I had to wait over 16 weeks for my RMC appointment. What are you being tested for?

Thanks for replying @PurplePansy05. The 6 weeks isn't reference to waiting for an appointment, they've said the bloods cannot be performed until 6 weeks has passed since negative pregnancy test. I haven't seen this anywhere else online so wondered if this was standard.

The tests are for
Beta 2

Anti-nuclear antibody screening
Anti cardioplin

Lupus anticoagulant

I had to wait 12 weeks. Like you I was surprised as it didn't seem like other people had had to online.

@Pineapplewanderer oh interesting! Seems like there's little consistency across NHS RMCs which makes it so much more confusing!

OP, I was never told that I had to wait a certain number of weeks after before the tests. I suppose you want to make sure there are no retained products and no leftover HCG which might affect the results (although frankly I'm not sure how relevant it would be tbh). But even if so, this wouldn't take that long.

Maybe there is a rule on this but they don't explain it as you usually have to wait a lot longer for tests anyway? I'm not sure. Have you checked the NICE guidelines?

Also there are more tests you could request if you want a full picture, did they tell you that? Your profile seems to be focused primarily on APS, is this what they are suspecting?
