Undetected Embryo

Hi there I just had an early scan to confirm my pregnancy having had multiple positive results on home tests. My doctor according to my LMP suggests I'm 8 weeks but typically my cycle is longer than 28 days and I don't believe I am just that far on.

Having not done much research beforehand I booked a private scan which took place yesterday. The result last night wasn’t what we hoped for. It seems my genstation sac is 16mm which to them they suggest based on the diameter I am 6 weeks, there was a yolk sac also however the kicker was there was embryo / heart beat detected.

I took a clear blue digital test 27th January to which it said I was 3 weeks therefore based on this (although not 100% accurate) I am 5 weeks 4 days which would marry up with my expected ovulation.

I am wondering if anyone here has been through the same thing and what the outcome was. They said at the scan that should take a test in 2 weeks and if positive assume I am still pregnant if not contact early pregnancy unit? Let me know your advice. This is my first pregnancy and I'm not sure what to expect thank you ❤️

My first miscarriage showed a sac of 10mm and yolk. Suggesting 5-6 weeks but I know when I ovulated and I should have been 8 weeks.

My 3rd miscarriage I can't remember the size but it was 5+4 and they said they couldn't see anything so I went back 2 weeks later and there was a heartbeat. The reason for the miscarriage was nothing to do with the size at the first scan so don't be alarmed because I had a miscarriage. Also, with that one, the dates they gave me meant I fell pregnant nearly a week after ovulation so it could be you are less than 5+4.

If you are 5+4 it's quite possible it's too early to see anything more than a yolk. Also, at this early stage they measure in mm so very tiny.

Got all my fingers and toes crossed that it works out for you Thanks
