Confirmed miscarriage, clear scan, hcg levels rising

Hi all,

I wonder if anyone could shed some light on this as I am so confused and frustrated.

I conceived in December and unfortunately had a miscarriage on 23rd Jan. I bled heavily for about a week and a scan on 3rd Feb showed nothing in my uterus or tubes and the lining was now very thin.

The confusing part is that my hcg levels are still rising.

I have had my bloods monitored throughout as I have had trouble conceiving and I knew a miscarriage was coming as my bloods were not doubling as they should.

The day they confirmed it, my bloods had dropped by 200. I then had the bleeding and the follow up bloods had risen by over 200.

The EPU are saying they are really confused because it definitely isn't ectopic. I have had another blood draw done yesterday but the doctor has not phoned me back to tell me the result, whether they have started dropping or still rising.

Has anyone else ever experienced anything like this??

Hi there

I'm so sorry. I had similar a year ago and it was classed a pregnancy of unknown location - had bleeding about 5 weeks, they couldn't see anything on scans but HCG kept rising. Eventually I had an injection of methotrexate to end it all properly. It was so frustrating and confusing not knowing precisely was going on, and felt like it went on forever. I think sometimes they resolve on their own and hope the doctor gets back to you soon.Flowers
