Do I count from the actual miscarriage or when the bleeding stopped?

Hi all,

Started to get confused/impatient waiting for my period after a mmc. Light bleeding started around the 7/12, then I passed a lot of blood/clots/tissue over 3 days 12-14/12 and then bled until early January, only very light by the end. I had a scan to confirm everything was clear and a negative test on Boxing Day.

Do I count from when the bleeding stopped so, early January, or from when the actual miscarriage happened? Just worried that it’s just over 6 weeks now from the 3 days.

I’m sorry I know how ridiculous this sounds and I should know but I’m just confused with it all and after trying for years I just want to start trying again!

Sorry forgot to mention that I’m waiting for my period, key bit of information there haha!

I think it's from the first day of bleeding (or at least that's what I've I've been told for my medical miscarriage).

I counted from the start of mine (lasted 6 days in total) I've had a period since and it looks like my cycle this month is a longer one too as I've ovulated about a week later than usual. Hope this helps💖

I use an app to track my cycles and have done for a few years now. I have had 3 miscarriages while using the app and so looking back at them the cycle following each miscarriage was between 40 and 48 days from day one of miscarriage bleeding to day one of the next period (cycle normally 28 days). It’s only anecdotal but I was followed up with by a specialist miscarriage midwife each time and she told me that this is quite common. X

I had the same question - period was back 5 weeks after bleeding started with first two miscarriages. Currently 6 weeks since bleeding started and nothing in sight.

I guess it varies?

I'm thinking maybe my body is protecting me - no ovulation and therefore no period until I'm ready to handle a new pregnancy (currently I'm not - last miscarriage was hard). But maybe it's just random.
