5 weeks bleeding

I’m currently (possibly/should be) 5 weeks pregnant and 2 days ago I passed a bit of brown blood, I assumed I was miscarrying and expected it to worsen but it hasn’t. I had a small amount one night and then the next night a bit more but still not enough to fill a pad. It was almost like the final day of my period. Had a bit of cramping but have had that since before positive test and had it weeks 4-8 with my last pregnancy.

I guess what I’m asking if should I be expecting more blood than that if I’ve miscarried or can it sometimes be just a small amount? GP just said to retest in 2 weeks with it being so early, but I can’t help but overanalyse it in the mean time.

Hi :) My doctor told me the same thing when I was experiencing blood during a pregnancy. I had recently had a miscarriage so was very anxious the same thing was happening again. I explained I couldn’t possibly wait 2 weeks so got in contact with my Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit at my hospital (where they do routine dated scans) and they let me go in for a scan at 6 weeks which gave me so much reassurance. Maybe you could do the same thing?

Hope this helps

Oh @Flobeee I’m in the exact same boat. Was 5 weeks 2 days when I started bleeding on Friday, bled on and off for 2 days which was mostly incredibly light and by Sunday it was the lightest of spotting. I’ve also been told to retest in 2 weeks, the not knowing is so hard although I did 2 tests on Friday when the bleeding started and only the FRER said I was positive still so in my case I’m guessing it’ll turn out to be a chemical pregnancy Sad

Keeping fingers crossed yours will just be a breakthrough bleed x

@KatePB sorry to hear about your miscarriage. My GP was reluctant to ‘bother’ with a scan when I could ‘possibly get my answer from a simple pregnancy test’ which I do understand. She did say if my test was still positive in 2 weeks that she would refer me. It’s helpful to know it’s an option.

@PointyMcguire really sorry you’re going through this too. It’s awful just being in limbo with nothing to do but wait and see. Got my fingers crossed for you too x
