Miscarriage at 11 weeks

Hi all,

Just after some advice really. Should be 11 weeks pregnant today but on all the days I had a very sudden heavy bleed yesterday and passed a large clot in the space of 5 minutes. Not had any bleeding or signs up to this point it was totally unexpected. Went to a&e as the epu was shut who didn’t really tell me much other than my cervix was closed.
Don’t suppose anyone has had anything similar with a good outcome? I stopped bleeding straight away still nothing now and never had any cramps at all. Im being scanned tomorrow even though I know deep down it’s gone 😔

Oh love. Sounds horrible. I'd hold out hope if your cervix was closed.
I had a bleed semi big about 10w. I also was told my cervix was closed and when they scanned me 2 days later baby was nestled in safely. This was 7 years ago so can't remember what else they said. Some people do bleed throughout.
I hope you have the same outcome. X

I'd try and contact epu again today

ohfook · 26/12/2021 08:19

Ask for a scan. I don't want to give you a bad news story or anything further to make you worry, but ask for a scan.

Thanks all, I’ve got a scan tomorrow and the epu was shut for the bank holidays so I’m just in limbo for another day. I’ve still not had anymore bleeding at all and still have symptoms but it’s the fact I passed a large tissue like clot that I’m not holding out hope 😢

That happened to me at 12 weeks and the pregnancy was fine. Went on to full term healthy baby. Good luck OP.

I'm so sorry, I know this is so worrying.
Did you experience any pain or heavy cramping at all beforehand?
I know it's such a worrying time. I really hope all goes ok for your scan tomorrow. You absolutely never know what it could be. It doesn't always mean a loss. Xx

LetsGoThenSanta · 26/12/2021 10:05

Sorry, I've just seen you've had no cramps beforehand.

I've had several losses and all were different.
With one, I had cramps all day, like a vibration in my uterus and then bled that night.
Another loss I had no bleeding and no warning signs - I found out at the scan.

I'm currently 11 weeks pregnant and 2 weeks ago had a big bleed with pink/red blood. I had a scan convinced it was another loss and it was fine. 2 weeks before that I had a brown bleed and again thought I'd lost the baby. I've had 3 scans already because of my anxieties and bleeds. But it's been ok.

Sometimes it happens and you're prescribed progesterone to help with the bleeding.

I know it's hard but just try to take it easy today if you can, and I really hope all is ok.

This happened to me at 13 weeks, three hours after by all fold scan which was all the more distressing as I’d just seen healthy active baby and no problems had been seen it was also done by consultant.
I had no cramping but a lot a blood which then settled down quickly. Like you it was over bank holiday and although out of hours confirmed cervix was still closed it was 2 days before scan confirmed everything was ok. I had a bleed from the placenta which then clotted, so had mild bleeding on and off until 20weeks when it stopped.
DS 17 is now 6’3” rugby player. I still look at him and it amazes me how lucky we were.
I know it’s hard but try and relax, rest and hopefully all will be fine. Bleeding is really common in early pregnancy, but because it often signifies miscarriage we all panic.

Angrymum22 · 26/12/2021 10:37

Should have been Nucal fold scan🙄 my phone is still learning.

Lollipop95 · 26/12/2021 11:12

Thanks everyone, you just assume the worst when you see it doesn’t end well for a lot of people. It does give me some hope that some have had bleeding and were fine but I just don’t want to get my hopes up for them to be crushed tomorrow. It makes me feel even worse as my best friend is 10 days behind me and she’s fine 😔

Oh how worrying for you. Try and rest as much as possible today and sending you positive vibes for tomorrow Thanks

TashieWoo · 26/12/2021 11:51

I have nothing to add in terms of experience but I just wanted to say that I’ll be thinking of you tomorrow @Lollipop95 - try to relax a bit today if you can.

So there is hope after a big sudden bleed and clots! Baby was there wriggling about everywhere and dated a couple of days ahead 🥺. She couldn’t see where the bleed came from at all and said sometimes these things jus happen! Thanks everyone for being kind xx
