Sex after recent natural miscarriage

Hi everyone
I had a scan a couple of days ago that showed I have had a completed MC. Spotting started just under 2 weeks ago and it completed a few days later.
Can you fall pregnant if you have unprotected sex even if you still have a reasonably high HCG level?
Not planning on trying again until the new year but keen to DTD with DH to feel more normal whether it be protected or unprotected before then.

I've recently had surgery for a MMC. We're not ready to ttc yet as waiting for cytogenetic results on the baby. But I'm tracking my cycle measuring my temperature and I think I have ovulated on Tuesday this week, so 2 weeks after surgery. But I am still testing positive on pregnancy tests, so still have some level of hcg. So I'd recommend using protection if you're not ready yet xx
