Potential miscarriage, what to do?

Hello, I suppose to be 7w1d, but 2days ago had some bleeding and brown discharge. Went for an early scan and doctor told me that I was only 5weeks and no heartbeat, but I’m sure about my dates. They told me to come back in 2 weeks for another scan but today I started cramping and have more brown discharge and some blood.
I’m so so worried I’m having a miscarriage, I feel so alone and powerless, I don’t know what I can do. I never had this before and when I read online they talk about tissue or clots, I am not sure what they mean with tissues! I feel just so lost. The lack of info from my GP is unbelievable!
I have also a booking for a midwife appointment at 8w next Wednesday and I’m not sure what to do. Should I go anyway?
I’m so scared as I’m 36yo and I heard scary stories on recovering from miscarriage and that took long time.

Any advise is welcomed.

Thank youFlowers

Hi @ValeC2021. I’m so sorry you are experiencing this. I know everything feels uncertain and heartbreaking.

I’d have a look at the miscarriage association website - they are v good. They have realistic stories of people’s experiences. What is meant by tissue is things like bits of womb lining.

I would phone (or get someone else to phone) your midwife for the booking appt and let them know the situation: they may still want to see you or be able to give you some support.

I read many many threads on here - the best for me was one called “tips for coping with the practicalities of miscarriage”. It brought me comfort to hear from other women who had gone through something similar.

Sorry you are going through this. I would wait and see how things are next week, if the bleeding increases etc. I had a mc in July and bled a lot so I was certain about what had happened (had a scan at epu to confirm but had to wait a week). Don’t forget that light bleeding (especially if it’s not bright red blood) can be normal in early pregnancy. The waiting game and lack of support is so frustrating, I really feel for you.

Thank you so much @Oilofolives I will look into the website you suggest.
My husband and I feel really lost, but probably it’s because everything just happened.
I doubt that midwife will want to see me anyway, but we will call in the next few days.
I just hope the cramping and pain will finish soon.

Thank you again for your kind words

Hello @Rrrob, it is very sad and frustrating especially the lack of info they give you, hopefully I will find some info.
Monday afternoon was red bright blood but just a 2£ coin size when I wiped (sorry for TMI), then only brownish discharge, and very painful cramps.
I will wait few days and see how it goes.
Thank you for your reply
