Any advice on misoprostol

Hi, I've had a mmc after a fet transfer. The baby stopped growing around 6 weeks.
I went into hospital about 6pm last night and had the tablets inserted. I had pains all night but managed to fall asleep after a load of codeine. I woke in the night for a wee and had cramps and (sorry to be graphic) had a big lump/clot in my pad that I had to plop into the toilet, after this my pains got worse and had a couple more big clots but I couldn't really tell what they were as it was so red. Since then I've had minimal pains, like period pains and hardly any bleeding. Is this it ? I was told I'd be soaking pads every two hours but I only soaked one when l initially woke up and found the big clot, hardly any bleeding since then, infact it's even lighter than my failed fet I had before and I passed a lot more that time.
Just don't know what to expect if there is more to come or that was it ? Sorry I've been graphic I've just never been through this before and I don't know what to expect

Sorry to hear about your loss, it really sucks.

I took misoprostol at 8weeks following discovery of anembryonic pregnancy. I was also prepared for much more bleeding than what happened in the end. I had one evening of horrible heavy bleeding with a massive clot.. a few days like a normal period but with a few more clots which was relatively heavy but not soaking through multiple pads as EPU had warned about, spotted for a week and a bit afterwards.

Got my negative test three weeks later and now got my first period post mmc roughly 4 and a half weeks after the whole thing.

Been a tough time but thankfully physically seemed to get through it okay -- I guess they just have to prepare us for the worst case scenario so as we don't get a fright.

Fingers crossed that the worst is over for you.

Take care x

@flamingal do you mind if I ask what your return period is like ? Worrying abit about that. Mine are always light so don't want them to suddenly change in any way. Also wondering if my light periods are contributing to not so heavy blood loss.
Yes maybe they prepare you for the worst. I think I probably slept through most of it to be honest ! Which is probably lucky. Apart from the main big clots coming away it's just been a normal period for me, actually probably lighter than a period !
I am absolutely shattered though, is this normal? I just feel drained! I think it could be a hormone crash playing a part too as I suddenly stopped all the ivf medication.

@flamingal really sorry about your loss. I thought this was an anembryonic pregnancy because they couldn't find the fetal pole for a few days, they found the baby eventually but obv not good news when they did

No I don't mind you asking at all.

My periods have always been pretty heavy and this one for me is no different. I'd say this period is a little more crampy than my usual and with more clots.

I was shattered too, it takes a fair bit out of you physically but it's also the emotional toll.

@flamingal thank you. Good to know your period wasn't drastically different.
Still not had any major bleeding but having pains on and off. So I think I'm over the worst of it now. Not feeling as tired today, the last three days I've stayed in and rested so think I will try and get back to normal from tomorrow. Thanks for your help
