Any PUL stories? Rising HCG 😩

Feeling a bit baffled. I was sure I'd passed the pregnancy tissue but my HCG went from 3500 to 3800 in 48hrs.

On Sunday at 6wks I had a private reassurance scan which showed a very empty uterus. My HCG was 3000ish so I think there should have at least been a sac visible. I had an NHS scan at EPAU on Monday which was again very empty.

I have another scan tomorrow. I really don't want methotrexate or surgery. I just want this to be over. Sad

Hi @Askmeafterchristmas

I had a PUL earlier this year - I'm so sorry, the uncertainty of it all is just horrible.

I couldn't decide what to do, large part of me wanted to wait it out for everything to happen naturally as my HCG never got that high but in the end decided to have methotrexate just to get it over with. I didn't have any side effects and my cycle returned within 28 days, but obviously had to wait 3 months to TTC again.

Thanks cossmoss. I really don't want to wait 3 months before ttc again. Sad

Anyone know if HCG have a delay in falling after tissue has passed? I was really sure I lost the fetal tissue the day before my bloods were taken

I’m so sorry OP. It is such a scary, uncertain time and I’m really sorry you are having to experience it.

Unfortunately in my case my PUL with rising HCG was found to be an ectopic pregnancy on my third scan and I was able to have methotrexate.

I really hope that your hospital is giving you information and looking after you. Hopefully your scan tomorrow will provide you with an answer and I hope that you will find peace, whatever the outcome. As horrible as it was, when I had an outcome I was able to do something about it and it put me back in control a little, which helped enormously.

@Askmeafterchristmas I know, that's the reason I held off for so long with the methotrexate but tried to tell myself I maybe wouldn't have got pregnant during those three months anyway, and needed to give my body a rest.

I don't know medically about a delay in HCG falling but I had bleeding and thought I'd passed everything but my levels kept rising for a couple of weeks afterwards until I had the methotrexate.

I hope the scan goes ok tomorrow and you find a way forward.
