I had a MMC 2 years ago, when I had an anembryonic pregnancy and then an ectopic pregnancy in May this year. Found out I was pregnant again a couple of weeks ago and because of my recent ectopic was booked in for a viability scan today at 6+6.
I haven't really had any pregnancy symptoms at all this time round but tests I've done at home are getting increasingly strong lines. I had one day of a tiny amount of old blood on wiping at 5+2 but nothing since. I actually went in for my scan with low expectations, given what's happened to me before, and this time was told that the pregnancy is in the right place, in that a sac is visible, but nothing to see inside. It's not yet 20mm so it's too small to diagnose a blighted ovum but the consultant was very much suggesting that that's what it looks like. He retains some hope, has booked me in for another scan in 10 days and said the plan after than is to either book me in for antenatal clinics or to book me in for further testing, depending on the scan result. Overall though it wasn't a positive result today. "I'm sorry it's not what you were hoping for".
To my mind, knowing that I should be 7 weeks tomorrow, there should be something visible and a heartbeat.
I am actually feeling alright at the moment because I didn't get my hopes up and I'm pretty convinced that this is another MMC but I also would just really like to hear if anyone has any stories of similar scans/timings that actually did result in a healthy pregnancy (I promise I won't torture myself with them). I have to take aspirin and progesterone pessaries for the next 10 days until my next scan, so I suppose the consultant does think there is a tiny chance of something. Would be good to hear if anyone did have a success after similar news.
