Positive test after missed miscarriage/MVA

Hellooo, I’m looking for some advice!!

I was diagnosed with a missed miscarriage when I went for a private scan at 9+4, but baby was measuring 9+1 and no heartbeat and so sadly I had to have an MVA on 31/08.

I did a cheap stick test exactly 2 weeks after on 14/09 which showed negative but this week I’ve been feeling a bit iffy and so did another test on a first response one which last night came back positive, and same again this morning! The line isn’t super strong but is definitely there.

I’m confused as to whether it’s just showing because the test is more sensitive or because it’s a new pregnancy. It’s been 8/9 days since I got a negative on the cheap one so thought it would be negative by now on a more sensitive one too if it was leftover hormones?

Do you think there is a chance this could be a new pregnancy!?!

Sorry to hear about your loss. It's difficult to say as FRER are more sensitive so there may be nothing to do but wait a few days to see if it gets darker.

Last week I took several FRER tests, all of which gave me faint positives. I got in touch with the gp as they didn't get darker and I was worried it was a chemical or a ectopic. Blood tests showed I want many pregnant and it was a case of a load of bad evaps. I've always liked FRER tests but it seems a few of us have had really bad false lines recently. The pic is just 3 of the 6 I took throughout last week.

It is so hard to wait and see, I have such terrible patience!! These are my tests from last night and then this morning…

Hmm they definitely look like proper lines. It could be a new pregnancy. Call your GP and request some blood tests to monitor your hcg then at least you won't be in limbo.

Or do you have any of the cheap tests that gave you a negative 9 days ago? If that's now positive then it will be a new pregnancy!

The lines seem strong to me and Ive done lots of tests. They do say you are more fertile after a miscarriage so I would say its positive. Given you have had a miscarriage last month, I would get in touch with your early pregnancy unit for an assessment with bloods as that will tell you for sure.

@chasingtherainbow1 yes I had the same thoughts and retested the same wee with a cheap stick one but that’s still negative… but then last time I was pregnant I didn’t get a positive on the cheap one until a week after the frer one! I have literally turned my brain into mush thinking about it all!!

@Biscuits1 thank you for replying, this will seem a stupid question but is the early pregnancy unit the same place that I would’ve gone for my mva etc? When I google it for where I live nothing really comes up. I definitely need to try and get some blood tests done to stop myself from going crazy!

I have rang my early pregnancy unit who have booked me in for a scan on Monday but have said to ring and cancel if the test becomes negative before then… I’m now worried whether they would be able to tell if it was retained products or a new pregnancy if the potential new pregnancy would only be counted as 4-5 weeks
