6 weeks after miscarriage and still no period. When will I get it?

I lost my baby 6 weeks ago (the baby was about 7 weeks along when he or she died :(..) Anyway, it's been almost 6 weeks and I still haven't had a period, nor any signs of it coming. I've also had positive ovulation tests for about 3 weeks. I'm confused and concerned about the lack of AF.... could something be off with my cycle?

I'm in a similar position to you OP. Six weeks post medical management for MMC and feel like I've never been so eager to have a period in my life. I continued to tests positive with slight spotting for at least 3 weeks after my medical management, so was rescanned and found to have a small retained product. EPAU were happy that this would come out with my next period though, whenever that is!! have you had a follow up scan at all?

@FleasAndKeef Thanks for sharing your experience! I haven't had a scan because the baby came out entirely, still in its sac, and it happened in hospital so they knew it was all finished.

It's annoying that online it always says you're period should return in about 2-4 weeks :/

I did bleed a teeny bit on one day about 2 weeks after the miscarriage, but it almost certainly wasn't a period, more like bloody discharge (sorry for TMI!). I don't think that's concerning, though.. ?

It's just so frustrating isn't it :-( everyone says 4-6 weeks is normal, but I think in reality the range of experience is much wider than that and depends when you start counting from! Hope you don't have too much longer to wait! 🤞 xx

Have you done a pregnancy test? I conceived both my younger two children immediately following a miscarriage.

@SusannahHolmes we haven't had unprotected sex since the miscarriage, as the nurse recommended waiting for one period before trying again

Hi everyone,
I hope you all don't mind if I join this thread, I'm new to all this.
I had a chemical pregnancy loss on 17th August, it was very much like a normal period lasting my usual 7 days, I only knew I was pregnant because I was 2 days late.
We are ttc again, my cycle is usually 30 days on average but I still haven't got my period. Ive done a clearblue test this morning which came back negative. Will my period come soon? Could I be pregnant?
My symptoms are: sore and tender breasts, late period, mild nausea, diarrhoea, dizziness.

Any help would be really appreciated Smile

@TTCm4 I'm sorry for your loss! Just out of interest, how did you know you were pregnant and it was a chemical pregnancy not a period? (feel free not to answer if you don't want to). Was it just because you were late or did you test?

@bluegrass1 hi thanks for your reply Smile I was late by 2 days so decided to test, we were so happy to see a positive result however the next day I began to bleed

bluegrass1 · 22/09/2021 15:55

@FleasAndKeef Any sign? I started bleeding but it was only a tiny bit and hasn't developed into a period, so I think I'm going to see a doctor as it's been 6 weeks with just a couple of days of light, intermittent bleeding. Doesn't seem normal :/

After my mc all my periods were all over and I slightly started spotting 8 weeks after I lost my baby. I was 16 weeks along . It took 8 weeks and period wasn’t the same . I don’t believe that you can conceive after such a loss straight away . The uterine lining is shedding with each miscarriage and you can’t fall pregnant straight away . You need to wait for your periods to be back to normal and then do ovulation test . But after mc they never back to normal they are short and cycles are all over the place I was every 32 days but now it can vary from 31-35 days so I don’t ovulate on the day 17 like before I do on the 14 day after my period . It’s frustrating but you will fall pregnant again . I keep missing 1 cycle and then I’m falling pregnant again but I’ve got the same problem not keeping baby in , I’ve been to doctors and I’m under investigation, but anyway I’ve had 3 mc this year 16 weeks , 6 weeks and 6 weeks and the 6 weeks ones Ive fallen pregnant the cycle after mc, each time like it was impossible to fall pregnant straight away after loosing it . I think your womb is too sensitive straight after mc and you need to have at least one period of that makes sense xx

@LauraLillyPad so sorry for your losses, I hope everything works out for you soon Flowers I've read that some women can get pregnant in the cycle after an early loss without having a period. I suppose everyone is different and i may have to wait it out Smile

FleasAndKeef · 23/09/2021 19:53

Nope, nothing at all! Just very grumpy! (Which I'm hoping is PMS!!)

Hope your call with your GP sheds some light on things for you xx

bluegrass1 · 24/09/2021 10:23

@FleasAndKeef Well, on my side AF has come back with a vengeance! Not much pain, just very heavy.

I hope she pays you a visit soon!
