Just wondering if anyone in similar scenario to me can advice how long too for negative tests. I had surgical management. Baby heartbeat stopped at 6 weeks. We saw heartbeat at 5 weeks and 6 days. Keen to start conceiving again but known need to wait for negative tests. Thank you

Hi. I'm sorry for your loss. I lost my baby at 9 weeks and it was measuring 6 weeks. We also saw a heartbeat at 5w6d. It took 9 mins eels for me to get a negative test but I think that was a lot longer than normal. Hope it's not that long for you x

Garman · 03/09/2021 20:25

I had a miscarriage at 10 weeks that stopped developing at 6 weeks, took 3 weeks to get a negative test.

Legoisaws8om · 03/09/2021 20:30

Thank you for your responses and so sorry for your losses. I just feel so in limbo until I stop bleeding and start TTC again. I know some people will say I'm rushing but it's the only way I can feel I can move forward.

@Legoisaws8om I had surgical management over the weekend and was told to test in 3 weeks. Did they not give you any tests or guidance?

Legoisaws8om · 03/09/2021 20:52

@Sunbird24 yes I was advised 3 weeks and then if still postive ring the EPU. I was jus curious if it happened any earlier for some people whereby the pregnancy stopped developing at 6 weeks.

Oh that’s a relief, was a bit worried they’d just left you to figure it out on your own!
CB digital was still showing 3+ for me two days before the last scan, which was a week before I ended up having surgery, so I’m expecting it to take quite a while to come down to BFN levels again. Trying to stick it out and not test until 2 weeks post-op, if you want to keep each other company in the crappest ever TWW?

Legoisaws8om · 04/09/2021 09:10

It really is the crappiest two week wait isn't it. Never thought I'd be desperate for a negative pregnancy test. I'm bleeding alot too which I thiugu surgical management would reduce :( how are uou feeling?

So sorry you’re going through this. I found out at 12 weeks that baby had stopped growing at 6 weeks. I had surgical management the following week at the end of December and it wasn’t until early March when I finally got a negative but I think that’s longer than normal x

Sunbird24 · 06/09/2021 21:53

How are you getting on @Legoisaws8om? I’ve very nearly stopped bleeding so did an early test, and still got a faint positive, but it’s going the right way

Legoisaws8om · 06/09/2021 22:00

@Sunbird24 that's really postive. I've not had much bleeding today but have felt awful and ache so much much my abdomen tender to touch. Keep getting hot flushes too. Guessing it's just my hormone etc. Went back to work (wfh anyways) today today helped me keep my mind off it all. Are you going to start trying straight away if you don't mind me asking? X

@Legoisaws8om I’m on ivf, so waiting for the results of the genetic testing to see if it offers any clues as to why my embryos keep giving up around the 6-8 week mark before I try again. I’ve only got 3 embryos left so hoping it shows up something that can be fixed or prevented🤞
Be gentle with yourself, make sure you’re on top of any symptoms that could indicate an infection!

I'm 8+2 and been bleeding and cramping since yesterday afternoon. Got a scan at EPU tomorrow afternoon after a long wait in A&E yesterday. Pretty certain I'm miscarrying. What has shocked me is the pain. It's like an incredibly bad period and the cramping coming in debilitating waves. I probably sound so daft but I've never heard anyone talk about the physical pain before - only the emotional pain.
Am dreading tomorrow and what comes after. Sending a handhold for those in similar situations. X

Legoisaws8om · 07/09/2021 12:58

@feelingsicknow sorry to hear your suffering. I hope all goes well at the EPU today. I'm suffering with quite bad abdominal pain and had a fever last night. Rang EPU who said if I get fever again to come ring back and see how I am in 24 hours but the gas from the operation would cause this kind of discomfort and bloating. Hopefully it keeps subsiding. Did a pregnancy test and it was a faint line today today that postive too I think.

@Sunbird24 I hope that you get some answers and so sorry for you having to go through this again. I'm dreading this happening again, but know I need to keep trying. I hope you get support with the next ivf transfer xx

Thank you. Fingers crossed. I've had abdominal surgery before and remember the bloating and gas you mention - it really is v uncomfortable. I hope it eases for you.

I had a similar thing. Baby stopped developing about 10 weeks. Surgical management 11 weeks. Two weeks for negative test. Got pregnant second cycle after. Wouldn’t recommend it though. It’s quite tough being pregnant for that length of time

Sunbird24 · 07/09/2021 14:14

@feelingsicknow so sorry, the pain can be bad but not everyone experiences it, and each miscarriage can even be different for the same person. What time are you at the EPU? Is anyone allowed to go with you? Sending you a handhold.
@Itsbeen84yearss sorry you went through it too. It’s great that you got pregnant again, assuming a more positive outcome that time?
@Legoisaws8om fingers crossed everything settles for you, this heatwave def doesn’t go well with fevers!

I had surgical management on Friday 27th and my tests are still positive (although getting much fainter). I'm also still bleeding but aware that's unusual. I definitely got the pain which for me was trapped wind. I took lactulose and windeaze as recommended on here and that helped.
My consultant told me to wait until I have a period before trying again because that period can remove any remaining clots which may affect implantation for a future pregnancy.

feelingsicknow · 07/09/2021 19:14

Had it confirmed this afternoon via vaginal scan that I'm not pregnant anymore. They said there was 'no evidence of pregnancy' and when I asked about the bleeding and clots was told it was "the products of conception". Nice. Feel like my body has been playing a cruel trick on me for the last few weeks, like there was never any 'baby' in there. So cruel.

PossiblyPertunia · 07/09/2021 21:40

@feelingsicknow I'm so sorry that you didn't have a better outcome of the scan. Sending you healing thoughts.

Sunbird24 · 07/09/2021 21:52

@feelingsicknow I know it’s hard to hear when they use those terms, but ‘products of conception’ means you definitely were pregnant, they really mean they see no evidence of a continuing pregnancy. You very much had a potential baby for at least a few weeks. It’s so hard not knowing what went wrong, but please know it wasn’t anything you did or didn’t do. I hope you are being looked after tonight Flowers

Legoisaws8om · 08/09/2021 20:52

@feelingsicknow so sorry for your loss. Don't let then feel they are minimising, it's just medical terminology. Flowers

Thank you others for sharing your experiences. My bleeding seems to have stopped now, am hoping so as I have a spa weekend booked which I wasn't going to be able to use much of the facilities due to being pregnant, but then to not be able to use to use due to miscarriage really would have sucked. My bloating has gone down alot and I don't feel so tender anymore. Going to take a pregnancy test tomorrow.

Sending lots of love to everyone going through their journeys Flowers

You too. Hope you are able to have some relaxing time at the spa and a little bit of self care. Thanks
