When do the BFP stop?

Hi all,

I had a miscarriage starting on Wednesday last week, I was 5 weeks pregnant. I lost all my pregnancy symptoms and then there was a full really heavy bleed with clots etc doctor didn't see my but confirmed over the phone it was a miscarriage . It's 8 days now and I'm still get very light bfp lines. Does that just mean the hcg in still in my system and will slower fade out?

I had strong positive tests until 5 weeks after a miscarriage. I was even scanned to check as my tests were so dark. I stopped testing after my scan so not sure at what point tests would have stopped showing positive.

It can vary a lot. I had a MMC at 10 weeks with surgical managgement. At 2 weeks afterwards, I was still testing positive on a Clear Blue digital. Yesterday was 2.5 weeks and I tested negative for the first time (on two internet cheapies). But some women test positive for much longer.

The hospital said if I was still testing positive test at 3 weeks after, I should contact them. Not because it's necessarily anything to worry about, but I think they will want to monitor you then just to check that the miscarriage was complete (no retained "products"). So if you are still testing positive at 21 days post miscarriage, it might be worth contacting your local EPU to arrange a scan, just to check everything has gone. Or if you have other symptoms such as a high temperature or unusual discharge.

By the way, you can ovulate with a low level of HCG still in your system, if the bleeding has stopped.

I had a mmc at 10 weeks and baby had stopped growing at 6. They said I'd get a negative at 3 weeks. I miscarried on 9th June and still getting very faint positives. I think it depends from person to person.
