Factor V Leiden, anyone?

Hi, I've recently found out I have Factor V Leiden Heterozygous gene mutation, I was just wondering if anyone else has this?

I've been referred to Haematology and my appointment is in 4 weeks. I've had 2 MMC's and, after my second, bloods were done to see if I have a clotting disorder and that's when it was discovered.

There's not much info online so I'm just wondering if anyone is/has been in the same situation and can provide any advice or insight? Thanks x

Hi there! I have the same mutation. My DF has it and so I was tested when I was 16.

I had a MMC a few years ago and then did a couple of rounds of IVF before falling pregnant naturally and I’m now 25 weeks.

The only difference I’ve seen during treatment and during pregnancy is that I’ve been taking a blood thinning injection every day and will do so until I’m 6 weeks postpartum. I didn’t take it in first pregnancy as I had no other risks so they felt I shouldn’t take it until I was postpartum but obviously that pregnancy didn’t go that far.

Hopefully you get the guidance you need from consultants and specialists and I wish you all the best x

@Hippomumma Sorry for the delayed reply, I've only just seen you message.

Thanks so much for replying and for sharing your story, it's given me some hope.

Annoyingly, my appointment has been moved to October so I've got to wait another month, but I'm still hopeful I'll get some answers then.

Congratulations on your pregnancy and I hope all goes well for you 😊 x
