Hi All,

Wanted some advise from ladies who have experienced a miscarriage, I have recently had a miscarriage was 10 weeks however was told baby was 7 and half weeks, on Friday I started with bleeding and went to the EPU who confirmed baby didn't have no heartbeat. I have now been sent home with a few options, I have been on and off bleeding however it seems like a slow procedure, I am thinking to go for the medical management. For the ladies who have had this what is it like and what would u recommend for it to naturally happen or go for the medical! Please help Sad thank you in advance'

Hi @user1492973893 so sorry to hear you’re going though this. I miscarried last month and now know I need to try and help others who are on the same journey. I choose to go completely natural which took around 5 weeks with hospital visits and ultrasounds every 2 weeks to check things were ok. I had retained tissue and some that had to be manually removed but wasn’t classed as a D&C. I also needed antibiotics at one point to clear a little infection but I was glad to let my body do it’s thing naturally. The only thing I would say with any medication definitely research any adverse affects and if it’s safe to try for a baby in the months afterwards, I understand that’s not everyone’s plan. Hope that helps x

Sorry your going through this OP. With my first mc I had the d&c I was a fairly quick procedure and I was in and out within a few hours. I had a few period cramps afterwards followed by light bleeding. I opted for this because I didnt want to spend what may have been weeks to wait for baby to pass and having to see the tissue ect (sorry I dont know what terms to use here) as they couldn't give me a timeframe for how long it would take. Take care op Flowers

Hi ladies,

Thanks for your replies, I have now decided to go for the D&C as it seems like a long process with it coming naturally! Booked in on Friday hoping all goes well! Atleast that way I know it's over and done with. ❤️

Really sorry to hear. I had a MMC 5 years ago now and opted for a D&C as I didn’t want to go through a long drawn out bleed. I had some complications (which are rare) - but without these it would have been fine. It was still ok but I spent 2 nights in hospital whereas normally you are in and out the same day. It was very emotional but I was glad to get it done with so I could try and move on a bit. Hope it all goes ok for you xx

Hi bakingmummy,

Sorry to hear about your loss too, aw ok yeah I'm having my D&C tomorrow scared and anxious but I guess I will get through it. Hoping the scan shows that the fetus has already come out before it but yeah it is a very long procedure waiting for it to come out. Thank you
