I’ve found a lot of comfort over the past few weeks across these posts and am hoping somebody can let me know if this is normal or if you have any similar experiences.
I found out I was pregnant a little while back and unfortunately, it isn’t the right time for my partner or I to continue on with the pregnancy. As of today, I am 8 weeks and 2 days pregnant. I have chosen the medical abortion route.
It’s been about three weeks since I first got in contact with Marie Stopes and after a failed attempt at the medical abortion via postal delivery (they never turned up), I picked up the pills yesterday from a clinic.
I had a miscarriage before, 6 years ago, and was roughly about 5/6 weeks then, so thought that my mind would be equipped to handle what was going to come 😖
I took Mifepristone yesterday at around 1pm and then today at 1:15pm, took two Nurofen plus (Ibuprofen + Codeine) and then inserted the four Misoprostal tablets vaginally.
I guess I’m a bit worried that I’ve been sick twice, diarrhoea three times (sorry I know it’s TMI) and my cramps don’t show any sign of easing even though it’s been almost seven hours since taking the pills. Most of what I’ve read online so far is that it subsides after 4 hours but I’m not getting that experience. The pain definitely comes in waves and usually after the most pain, comes the most blood.
If there’s anybody reading, how long did the process last for you? I understand that the cramps can last for weeks as well as bleeding, but I thought the intense cramps would subside within the day 😭
1:15pm - 2x Nurofen plus
1:18 - 4x Misoprostal
2:10 - light cramps and full body chills
2:30 - small clots appearing, first sign of diarrhoea
3:40 - violently sick (I thought having a hearty lunch to line my stomach earlier on would be a good idea)
3:50 - pain intense so 1x paracetamol
4:00 - felt large clots pass on the toilet but didn’t see
5:00 - thought I felt better so went downstairs for a stroll only to come back upstairs feeing 100 times worse
5:45 - sick again, but no food in me to throw up so it was just water from swallowing pills
7pm - pain more instense and more diarrhoea
7:30 - 1x Nurofen plus
8pm - painkillers slowly starting to work after throwing all the others up, still have intense cramps with lots of blood
