Shoulder pain after miscarriage and negative test

I had my miscarriage confirmed at EPU on Thursday following abdominal scan and negative urine test. Yesterday evening I developed pain in my shoulder very suddenly. It feels muscular and hurts more when I lay down or move to certain angles. I am still bleeding but have no other pain. Am I correct in saying if it was ectopic my test results would have shown pregnancy still? Thanks.

@Schad30
Yes I’ve always been advised that if you have a negative hcg test then it rules out ectopic. I experienced something a bit similar. Had a very early loss at 5:2 and when I reported a bleed my fertility clinic measured my HCG across 48 hrs and it had significantly dropped and my test was negative a week later so a miscarriage was diagnosed. Therefore I didn’t actually contact EPU that time or have a scan. However around the time of my negative test I then experienced sharp continual pain in one side. I rang EPU and they were keen to see me. This may be because I’d never had a scan but they took the symptoms seriously. I’d give them a call if your pain continues. I never found out what my pain was but speaking to them put my mind at rest.

Thank you so much for the reply! I’m sorry to hear your experience!
That’s put my mind at ease, I think I’m over thinking everything and google os my worst enemy!
I’ve taken pain killers and had a hot water bottle on it all morning and it’s easing. I strongly doubt if it was being caused by ectopic bleeding it would ease with a hot water bottle.
Thank you again for the response, it’s made me feel much calmer.
