9 week MMC easier than 6 week?!

I’m currently having my second MMC diagnosed at a similar time (11ish weeks) except in this case the foetus made it to 9 weeks whereas last time it was 5/6. So is quite a bit larger. Last time I had dark brown spotting before it was diagnosed and I started to naturally miscarry about a week after that started. Some retained products 2 weeks later and had medical management for these last bits. The last one was quite painful and I had some bleeding but then several instances of lots of clots etc coming out on the loo.

This time I had more/heavier bleeding for a few days before diagnosis and I asked for medical management after 5 days to speed it up. I took the 6 tablets yesterday and had an evening of bad cramps and one toilet trip where it felt like maybe two clots came out. Not much. Didn’t look but didn’t feel like much. Last night overnight I had no cramps, very little bleeding. Today has been like a heavy period but that’s it.

Anyway, the point of my long story is… it’s not really possible that those couple of clots were it, is it? It’s more likely that the tablets didn’t really work and there is lots left to come but it’s stalled?

If anyone out there has had a similar experience and can advise, please do!

I'm so sorry lovely. I can't believe how unlucky you've been to have another MMC. Will you be able to have some investigations to understand why it has happened again? xx

Pamparam · 23/06/2021 19:56

@Noodella18 ah thanks. Hopefully I’m the only statistic in our other thread. No I don’t think so. They only seem to care if you have 3 in a row! Hoping it is just bad luck, in fact I’m sure it is ❤️

@Pamparam how are you today?
From my experience yes there is still a lot to go

Pamparam · 28/06/2021 07:51

@Bibbidiboo well… I had a dye stealing positive this morning (week after medical management) which probably isn’t a good sign! Bleeding has hugely slowed but I don’t believe it’s over :(

@Pamparam you need to go to EPU. It doesn't sound like miscarriage is over. I am sorry... been there... many times. If you are getting strong positives there could be a retained tissue- its best to find out asap.

For anyone who reads this in the future, my positive test meant nothing and a scan revealed that I did infact passed everything in one go after the medical management. It was indeed easier than my previous one at earlier gestation. I think past experiences do make you worry, sometimes unnecessarily. So glad it’s all over either way.

I hope the past couple of weeks have been as gentle as possible. I'll be keeping everything crossed for you.

@pamparam Thank you for posting. I'm currently going through a miscarriage and these forums have really helped as I feel like I've hardly had any information from hospital. I found out a week ago baby was only showing 6 weeks and I should have been 9. I was due for a second scan tomorrow but can you believe I'm managed to get covid! So now that's delayed until next week Friday. I started bleeding the day I had my first scan and been bleeding ever since, I'm just worried I haven't passed anything significant yet as I can't recall seeing any major clots just blood and I've had bad cramping at bottom of stomach and back but nothing too major. Do you think I'm still yet to pass everything? I've read it can be painful like labour so I'm worried I've still got it all to come yet 😩

Pamparam · 12/07/2021 09:01

Oh gosh @LH1988, that’s tough. From my experiences you do know when you’re passing significant stuff - it all builds up pain and cramp-wise, then you dash to the toilet and feel large amounts of unspeakable stuff falling out. In my first one this happened twice, my recent one was just the once hence worrying I hadn’t passed it all. I wish you the best, I hope your case of Covid is mild too.

Thank you @Pamparam
I think I'm over the covid now, I thought I just felt a bit off because of the miscarriage. Just a pain I still have to isolate so my scan is delayed. I'm due to take my daughter on holiday Sunday too and now I'm panicking I'll go to my scan and have to have medical management as it's all still there and then I'll be too poorly to take her :( Fingers crossed it's all okay. Thank you for the information. I hope you're feeling better too now X x x

Pamparam · 12/07/2021 10:35

@LH1988 if they give you tablets, the chances are very good that it'll be over by the next day so Sunday would be ok. Sending you love! x
