Why are so many pregnancies lost at 6 weeks?

Just that really. I'm currently going through a miscarriage where I should be 8+4 but the baby died at 6 weeks.

I know it had a heartbeat because I'd had an early scan and having browsed on here for a few days it seems so common for pregnancies to end at 6w. Does anyone know why that is?
