Miscarriage confirmed, awaiting bleed... IVF loss

Hi ladies,

I am 6+5 today (is that even a thing anymore, I’m not sure - sorry) and on Tuesday of this week I was found to have a non viable pregnancy. It was a successful pregnancy via IVF (first round, first transfer; frozen) and the pregnancy is unfortunately not meant to be and I am currently waiting for the bleed to occur. I have had a week of spotting 1-7th with a heavy bleed with pain and clots on Tuesday (4th) which lasted a few hours. I stopped spotting Saturday night (just gone) and then since stopping the spotting I then found out it was a non viable pregnancy and stopped the estrogen and progesterone. It’s been two days, and I’m spotting again.

How long is it likely to be until my spotting turns into a bleed? I have no idea as I forgot to ask the clinic. I remember being told if no bleed by Tuesday next week (18th) to call the clinic and then I’ll be referred to the EPU.

This is my first pregnancy, so I don’t really know what to expect.

Thank you!

Hi OP

So sorry for your loss - I know from my sister going through IVF is so hard.

I had two MCs, one of which was a missed MC so didn't bleed apart from when I needed a no2 (sorry tmi). With my first one I had spotting for a few days then a heavy period type bleed for 10 days, it was physically and emotionally draining. I wasn't scanned as the pregnancy test went negative quite quickly.

Have you lots of support? I found the miscarriage association really helpful.

Take care of yourself Thanks

@espressoontap thank you!

I’m also so sorry for your loss too! I was spotting for 2 days, and had a light bleed so far for the past day. Nothing heavy yet, so I guess time will tell. I appreciate to taking the time to reply. As this is my first pregnancy, I have no idea what to expect. I know everyone can be different, but there isn’t that much information out there as such? I know some people prefer to not know, but to settle my angst I almost need to know!

Thanks - yes! I have a fantastic support network, my partner has, and continues to be, absolutely incredible and my family are all just a phone call away if I need them (we live away from our families).

Thank you! I will do ❤️

I am so sorry. I am in exactly the same situation, also in ivf (ICSI) baby. It’s so utterly heartbreaking.
Confirmed yesterday and opted for medical management. Go to hospital to get oven first tablet Tuesday.
Saying I hope you are ok is pointless as I am sure you are not. We just have to get through this day by day. Sending you love.

@Goldilocks2528 I’m sorry! I can only echo the same to you too! I am not yet able to get the tablet as I my EPU wouldn’t touch me due to being so early. So if nothing happens by next Tuesday, then I am to call the clinic back. I just want to get it over and done with, as to be honest it’s been on/off bleeding for over two weeks now! I’m still bleeding more than a spotting-esque bleed and but nothing i’d consider heavy.

I hope today goes well, or as well as it reasonably can. Please do message if you need to, my baby was also an ICSI baby too! 💔

Sending all the love to you too!
