Question about timing TTC after MMC

Just after some advice if anyone can help please? Had ERPC for MMC about 2.5 weeks ago. Picked up after 16 week midwife appointment when no fetal heart heard and looks like baby died at 13 weeks. It’s been heartbreaking, and some of the mumsnet threads have provided such comfort, as it is so hard to explain to people how devastating it’s been.

I’m 37 and desperate for a second child. I know I’m so lucky to have one already. Nurse at hospital advised to wait for a period then TTC but I’ve seen conflicting info online that we don’t have to wait? Given my age I want to start ASAP, as I think this limbo stage is killing me. Preg test was negative today, and bleeding is more like the occasional pinkish mucus. They have given me a consultant appointment for 8 weeks post erpc but don’t really want to wait for that, and not really sure what they really are going to say.

Has anyone got any advice on whether we can start TTC? I also want to get back that intimacy with DH as it’s been such a tough time for both of us.

Sorry to hear about your loss 🌸 I too had a missed miscarriage at 12 weeks in January and went down the surgical route.
I waited to have a period after the loss and then we decided to try again.

I got my positive result yesterday 💕 the hospital advised me to wait a cycle before trying again but in all honesty from what I’ve read/heard I don’t think it matters. I think they just tell you to wait a cycle so they can date the new pregnancy correctly.

It is such a tough time for you both, I hope you manage to get the intimacy back soon x

I think only you know when your ready to try again, the only reason we waited was because I wanted to see if my body would go back to my normal cycle!

The only reason they tell you to wait until after a period is for the dating to be easier. You can TTC as soon as you have a negative test and have stopped bleeding (sex whilst still bleeding from a MC is an infection risk). Wishing you all the best.
