Old wives tale or an actual thing?

Hey guys! I had a missed miscarriage at 17 weeks, baby measuring 14 weeks. February 12th 2021.
We decided to have a post mortem and i checked in with the miwfie today who said that the karyotyping had come back for babys gender and baby was a boy.

Ive had two healthy girl pregnancies with no complications at all!
A handful people have said 'maybe you cant carry boys'

Is this an old wives tale or is there science behind this?

Thanks in advance xx

I don't know but we had quite a similar situation. Healthy baby girl, then a stillborn boy at 17 weeks, turned out to be edwards syndrome. Then 5 further miscarriages followed by a healthy baby girl. I have always wondered if I just couldn't carry boys.

2 miscarriages, 2 healthy pregnancies of girls. I asked the consultant if it was old wives tales or possible, and he said that there are things that we know happen but don’t have all the answers to yet. Deliberately vague answer I think!

I think there may be some truth in this, ie there may be a very small percentage of women who can't carry boys (or girls). However, it's far far more likely that your miscarriage was unrelated to the sex of your baby and it's coincidence that this one happened to be a boy. Sorry for your loss OP Daffodil

There will be a very small % of couples who both carry a part gene, that when combined together lead to fetal death. Some of those genetics will be related to fetal sex; so happen more in one sex or only in one sex. This could explain a couple who's pregnancies always ended in miscarriage for fetuses of one sex.

That said, that's super unlikely! The most likely explanation is just awful bloody luck and I am so sorry. I assume the karyotyping found nothing?
