Cyclogest query

Alicia870 · 09/03/2021 12:54

I've had 3 recurrent losses and my gynae told me next time I get a positive test to get on progesterone ASAP.
I tested yesterday and there was the faintest shadow on an frer. It would prob only have been about 9dpo. Did another and thought I could see another faint faint line. Definitely not enough to convince me Im pregnant but enough to panic and think I need the progesterone ASAP just in case!
I got it prescribed and am able to get it today.
But today my test looks bfn and I also had some pink mucus when wiping. Wondering if I take the cyclogest will that just mess with my head and delay my period anyway if not pregnant?
Or should I just take it anyway just in case?

I'm prescribed cyclogest for recurrent losses. If you're to take it from a positive, I'd wait. If you test at 12dpo, it should be clear and you can start it then.

It would possibly delay your period slightly - my doctor wants me to take it from ovulation up to 10dpo, so I stop it in time to not delay my next cycle.

Best wishes x

I was also prescribed cyclogest for recurrent losses.
I had to take it from ovulation until the date my period was due and do a test. If negative I was to stop taking it. I was only to do that for 3 cycles and thereafter only start taking it when I got a BFP. In the 3 months I done that I got BFN and it didn't interfere with my cycle at all (although, from reading PP that's maybe not a guarantee).
A couple months later I had a faint line and just started it that day. I figured it wasn't going to do any harm as it hadn't caused any issues previously. Having said that, I was confident my faint line was legit and didn't doubt I was pregnant.
If you're apprehensive about it though, maybe you should wait a couple days to retest?

Alicia870 · 09/03/2021 16:23

Thank you for the advice!!
I'm just so afraid in case I'm just extremely early and maybe there was something to that faint line and I want to give myself the best chance possible. So think if I just start taking it and if test still negative tomorrow then stop?

I don't think that would be an issue @Alicia870 fingers crossed for the morning 🤞

Alicia870 · 10/03/2021 10:27

Can any of u ladies help? So yesterday I took the 2 doses of cyclogest and had no more spotting at all.
This morning my test is bfn. So I didn't take any cyclogest this morning.

Pretty sure I'm not pregnant. Whether it was false positives or extremely early chemical I don't know. But I just wondered is it likely or possible the cyclogest is delaying my period? Usually if I would have any spotting prior to my period it would come that day but haven't had any more since and not pregnant by the looks of this test.

@Alicia870 I didn't have any delay to my period when I took cyclogest but I guess everyone is different.
My friend recently had what she suspected to be a chemical (like you, faint lines then nothing) and her period arrived a couple of weeks later. So it's possible that you're late because of that rather than the cyclogest.
It's so frustrating to not have answers but it'll maybe just be a waiting game x

Alicia870 · 10/03/2021 11:59

Thanks @auldmaw I've had a few recurrent chemicals Hence part of the reason why I'm on the progesterone but I had confirmed digital with all of them then a period a few days after the digital.
I suppose with the spotting yesterday and such a faint line I would have expected bleeding to happen but just have a feeling the cyclogest is covering it up!
Thanks for getting back to me

I'm sorry about the bfn @Alicia870 I had a cycle where I had 2 days of very faint lines, but not confident they were positive. So I've just put it down to dodgy tests.

It could be the cyclogest has delayed things slightly, but it's only one days worth of progesterone. I have spotted on it before (and bled in my last pregnancy). Maybe give it a couple of days and test again if your af is still not here.

It's very hard to switch off and not think about it when stuff like this happens! X

Alicia870 · 10/03/2021 16:18

Thanks @VenusStarr
I know it really is! We weren't even trying this month actively as I was told to allow a couple of months to allow vit d supplements to work so it shouldn't be disappointing. But I think it's just all the running around to get the medication and feel I've made a fuss over nothing. When you've had recurrent losses though you just want to do everything to give the best chance. Think I will probably start bleeding soon!

Today I've had another bfn but still no more bleeding at all.
This has literally never happened me before! Spotting that just goes away. I really wish I hadn't taken the cyclogest now as I don't know if that's just artificially delaying things but I only took 2 pessaries and stopped so would it really have that much of an impact?

Sorry to hear about the bfn and no period yet @Alicia870 how many dpo are you now? Its such a mind🤬 hopefully your period will start in the next day or so.
I also got a bfn today. It is getting harder each time x

auldmaw · 12/03/2021 06:16

@Alicia870 it's so frustrating when your body mixes thing up and throws you a curve ball. I found that after every loss I had, something was different. For example, I didn't used to get sore boobs or a sore back during my period. I also found it could take a couple months to regulate again.
Hopefully your period will appear soon and you'll know where you stand!
Sorry for the BFN's ladies, wishing you both good news soon 🤞🏻 x

Alicia870 · 12/03/2021 07:14

I understand @VenusStarr it's a complete rollercoaster :( and no excitement after so many losses, just a lot of fear and worry.

I'm 13dpo today. Which is why the spotting on 10dpo was odd as it was before my period is due!
It's exhausting thinking about this kind of thing all the time and I know that doesn't actually change anything that's happening inside.

@Alicia870 ❤️ it's loaded with so many emotions whilst still grieving for our little ones.

I had a cycle where I spotted at 9dpo and thought it might be implantation, but just an anomoly. It's horrible being in this limbo, waiting for the next chance. And that's before trying to navigate pregnancy after recurrent loss 😢 we just need to get that first hurdle out of the way. I hope you aren't waiting too long - this bit between bfn and period is horrible x

Alicia870 · 12/03/2021 07:56

@VenusStarr stank u so much. I'm so sorry for your losses and that you're on this road as well.
It's so hard :( Feels an impossible dream at the minute.
Sending you love x

Sorry for your losses. Once you get your period and onto the next cycle count you discuss getting onto the cyclogest from shortly after ovulation? That's the regime I was put on and it worked. I had it from about 4dpo. This can help implantation and so prevent chemicals as it gives them the best opportunity to become viable pregnancies. That's what I'd be pushing for. All the best!

Alicia870 · 12/03/2021 09:35

@ellenpartridge thank you for this suggestion. From reading other stories this seems to be a common way for it to be used so I will ask.
I am on high vitamin d supplements now to raise my levels and been told to avoid pregnancy until that's rectified. I think it will be good for me mentally to take a break from it all. Being told that by a doctor makes it a lot easier to take the break as it's out of my hands. I find it so hard not to try when I'm left to my own devices as I want it so much but I know myself my mental health has taken such a blow with all this loss that I do need to step back for a while.

Hey @Alicia870 has your af arrived? Mine came today of all days, a day early. Hope you're OK x

Alicia870 · 14/03/2021 19:39

@VenusStarr sorry to hear that - and hope I are ok today too, Mother's Day can be so hard. It certainly has been for me. Yes my af did arrive later on Friday and was just glad to have an end to that horrible false hope phase that I always get sucked into. I don't know what the faint lines were about. Probably a really early chemical as in my experience I've never had a line that meant nothing, but at this point it's just a dip in the ocean.
Hope you are holding up. Today is tough xx
