Long drawn out early miscarriage

Hello,

I started getting bad lower back pain 8 days ago today when I would have been 6 weeks. I then experienced some bleeding the next day. The EPU got me in for a scan on the Friday where they could find a small sac but it only measured 5 weeks. I had some blood tests which confirmed that my progesterone levels were extremely low at 7 with HCG at 1004 and I would go on to miscarry. They checked by bloods again 48 hours later and my progesterone was 14 and hcg was 1010. They want me to go back in for a scan tomorrow to 'see what's going on' but that I am definitely miscarrying. I guess they want to check it is complete.

My bleeding and pain picked up over last weekend, but it is still very sporadic and there has been no definitive moment where I've thought 'oh this is it'. I would say generally the pain is there most of the time, occasionally getting worse, and the blood is varying from blackish with clots to deep red, but with nothing more than the amount during a very light period. I do get the occasional small 'gush' when I go to the toilet.

Is it normal that this is dragging out so much? I feel that by now I should have had something much more intense happen, if that makes sense. I just want this to be over with 😥

So sorry to hear that you are going through this 💔 it's really heartbreaking.

Apparently it's really common for a miscarriage to drag out 😔 I was about 6 weeks pregnant when I started bleeding. Had period type cramps and bleeding no heavier than a period for a week and then it stopped. This was about 3 and a half weeks ago and I've been back and froward to epu for blood tests and scans as my hcg levels were falling very slowly and then they saw a sac still in the womb.

Finally started taking misoprostol today to try and get rid of retained tissue so really hoping that this works and I'll not need any further treatment or blood tests. It's horrible enough to go through a miscarriage without it dragging on for weeks and weeks x

@HotCupOfNo I'm so fed up now 😂 not sure the misoprostol has fully worked, bit bleeding but nothing like what they described so to go back for a scan next week.

Hope your doing ok? I'll definitely have a look at the thread, thank you 😊

@Optimistic2021 I'm so sorry, that's horrible. I've started to bleed a lot more and have more pain so I think this might be 'it' but it's nothing too heavy so it's really hard to know. I'm going back to have yet more bloods done in a weeks time. It's so mad, I used to think people just had a miscarriage, I didn't realise that it could take weeks and weeks and involved being in such an awful limbo x

Really sorry, have been through this, and didn’t know either. Hope it’s over soon and that you get good care
