Ovulating a week after miscarriage

I'm pretty sure I'm ovulating today, a week after a miscarriage at 5.5 weeks. Is ovulation this early possible? This would be within my fertile period during a normal cycle for me.

To add: blood test on Monday showed HCG level of 13

@lotus37 sorry to hear of your loss. Thanks hcg has to be at 0 to trigger ovulation. What are the signs that you could be?

TheDaydreamBelievers · 19/02/2021 09:45

@lotus37 its not the case that HCG needs to be 0 to trigger ovulation, the estimated HCG level is about 10 or less. So yes it is possible.

lotus37 · 19/02/2021 10:01

Thanks both. Just usual ovulation pain and familiar CM. I've got another blood test for next Tuesday to check HCG levels have gone all the way down (as over the 48 hours both tests showed 13), but wondering if it is worth trying to conceive again if I am ovulating, or if this would mess up the blood test next week?!

@lotus37 the issue is if you DTD and then got a positive, medics would be unable to tell for a while if it was remaining hcg (from infection, retained products, slow dropping HCG) or a new pregnancy (would have to check the HCG kept going up, would have to wait until approx 6 weeks to be sure thats the case). Thats why they tell you to wait until you are HCG negative or get a period first. That said, theres no risk to a new pregnancy or to you, only a risk of the anxiety of not knowing

Thank you - yes, will wait in that case.

Hi ladies
I had a miscarrage at 3 months 1 day on the 6th feb 2 weeks ago today, its been heartbreaking but this week we've been having sex again it just felt right ,we're saying if it happens it happens im 42 no time to waste... BUT if i dont wait are taking a risk as some have been saying wait for your 1st period... Think im ovulating feels like i am...I just want go back to our hopes and dreams of a new family and dont really want to wait if i dont need to.

TheDaydreamBelievers · 20/02/2021 14:37

@Anniemac42 there is no risk of harm to you or any fetus not to wait, and it doesnt raise the miscarriage risk.

The risk is to your mental wellbeing - I'm assuming you don't yet have negative pregnancy tests. So if in a few weeks you test positive you dont know if that's from the previous pregnancy where you had a miscarriage or from a new pregnancy. It took 9 weeks for my tests to go negative (was at a similar stage to you). Youd then need to wait weeks and weeks to find out if it's a new pregnancy. If it is a new pregnancy theyd also find it hard to date it, and that may cause anxiety

TheDaydreamBelievers · 20/02/2021 14:39

Also meant to say if you are still bleeding then sex is a risk to your health @Anniemac42 as this can cause infection

Anniemac42 · 20/02/2021 16:19

@TheDaydreamBelievers

Anniemac42 · 20/02/2021 17:03

🤞🤞 i can see this being me again very soon... I wish you all the very best of luck, its such a worrying time when in the past we've suffered miscarrages, mine was horrific at 3 months 1 day but im trying again surley it cant be the same everytime... We live in hope, keep me posted x @Fourleafclover93

Fourleafclover93 · 20/02/2021 17:16

@Anniemac42 got my fingers crossed for you. I can't imagine what it must be like that far on.

That was my second mc, it took me a year and a half after the first one to get pregnant again so it was a big relief not having to wait such a long time

Anniemac42 · 20/02/2021 20:02

Thats my 2nd miscarrage to but the one before this was in my 20s, im 42 now ,on week 12 me and my partner was like yesss we made it then the day after i was in an ambulance having a miscarrage was horrific it was only 2 weeks ago today, i had a scan at 7 weeks 1 day we saw its heart beat that made it even more emotional... BUT im not letting it stop me trying again im living in hope we both have children between us but we want one together so we'll try again and god willing it will work next time 🤞🤞 @Fourleafclover93

Fourleafclover93 · 21/02/2021 09:00

@anniemac42 keep positive it will happen, and take care after your mc

Anniemac42 · 04/05/2021 23:01

@Fourleafclover93 I'm 9 weeks pregnant have an early scan tomorrow... I'm so hoping this time it works, is your pregnancy going well? I hope so

Anniemac42 · 05/05/2021 12:55

Baby with no heartbeat.. was offered the tablet which I've declined for now :( xxx apparently baby's heart stopped at 7 weeks and I'm 9 weeks ... so just need to get the pregnancy out now
