Recurrent Miscarriage Testing

Hi all,

I’ve had two miscarriages - one MMC at 10 weeks which resulted in ERPC in August, then a loss at 6 weeks in December.

We’ve been referred for testing and I have got my blood test results back but don’t have an appointment with the consultant until 20th Feb. One of the results shows prolonged APTT under ‘Clotting’ - from what I can gather online this means my blood takes longer than normal to clot.

Has anyone gone on to have a successful pregnancy after having prolonged APTT? Desperately clinging onto some hope here Sad

Hi @nuno90,sorry for your losses. Sorry cant help you re your results but was wondering whether your gp referred you to a consultant? My gp wouldn't refer me as ive only had two, and they won't refer until three miscarriages :(

Hi @Skattycatty123, I’m so sorry for your losses. It really is such an isolating place to be, always here if you want to talk about things.

My GP did refer me - the hospital told my GP to refer me because it was my second consecutive loss and they now consider it to be recurrent after two, so I would definitely speak to your GP.
I am from the Birmingham area and currently waiting for my consultation at the end of March. I did pay for bloods to be done privately and so far they have tested for the following:

Thyroid Function Test
Vitamin D
Calcium
HbA1C
Thromphophilia
Full Blood Count
Coagulation Profile
Antithrombin 111
Factor V Leiden – Common Mutation
MTHFR Common Variants
Fibrinogen
Lupus Anticoagulant
Protein C
Free Protein Sag
Anticardiolin Ans
Chromosome Analysis
