Hi all, sorry for everyone's losses Thanks

I have my first appointment with Quenby in a month and was wondering what the process would be and how long you have to wait for blood results specifically?

I've had three losses, a chemical, one at 6+1 and one where I spotted between 10 and 12 weeks then bled heavily for 2 more weeks before haemorrhaging and finally getting scanned where they found retained product (hate that phrase) which I had medical management for.

I was referred to Tommy's Birmingham in June, had my bloods taken in October and got my results in December. They are refusing any treatment even though I tested positive for thyroid antibodies and have a TSH level of 3.06 (have heard it should be below 2). I got that information about my TSH when I had my bloods repeated through my GP. When I asked what TSH had been when they tested me they said they hadn't!!! Even though when I was given my results in December over the phone she said "all your thyroid tests are normal apart from antibodies". So a lie basically!

Needless to say I don't want anything to do with them anymore hence the referral to Quenby.

Any info you can give would be much appreciated. Thank you x

Hi @showmethegin I'm sorry for your losses ❤️

I've had 4 losses and was also under Tommy's Birmingham (2 of my losses were actually under their care). My tsh level was exactly the same as yours and I was told by the doctor at our initial appointment back in October 2019, that if it was over 2.8 I can asked to be medicated. I was also under the hospital fertility team, so I asked my fertility doctor to prescribe it, my GP just does it as a repeat prescription now.

Like you, after a not great experience at Tommy's, I asked for a referral to Prof Quenby after my 4th loss in October. We also started private testing alongside. So by the time the appointment with Quenby and round, I already had my results from my private tests.

Professor Quenby didn't feel she needed to retest my bloods. She offered me a place on her cerm trial, which is endometrial biopsy looking for endomitritis, but she said if they found I didn't have this, I'd be under care as usual which is progesterone. I was already taking progesterone in my 4th pregnancy and still miscarried, so we didn't want to go through that and end up in potentially the same place.

My reason for my recurrent losses (3 MMC and one chemical) is aggressive nk cells, which isn't something the nhs tests for. Tommy's said it was likely I was having chromosomal issues, but they tested my last baby and he was healthy. They've not contacted me since, so I'm glad I've sought other avenues.

I hope Professor Quenby can help you, she was lovely. If I was younger and hadn't had my most recent loss, I think I would've gone with her trial. Best wishes xx
