Clinic referral times - recent experiences?

Hi all - wondering if anyone has recent experiences of being referred to a recurrent miscarriage clinic, preferably in London? How long did you wait / have you been waiting to get a first appointment once you were referred? I’ve been hearing some horror stories about year-long waits and hoping for some reassurance.

Hello, I was recently told by the EPU that the waiting list is typically 3 months, but that there is a backlog at the moment as many of the recurrent miscarriage clinics were closed in the first lockdown.

I’m in Buckinghamshire though, hopefully someone will have recent experience of London waiting times. St Mary’s in Paddington is supposed to be the best, and I think you can request them. I actually decided to go there privately and had a good initial experience - just awaiting tests now.

Thanks so much sweetpea, that’s really helpful. Did you pay directly to go private or did you use insurance? I have Bupa through work but really hard to get a clear answer from them on what they’ll cover as it’s fertility related. Thanks

We’re paying for it ourselves as we don’t have medical insurance.

Hi
Worth getting your GP to refer you to as many hospitals as they’re happy to as my experience had been that they vary - then just go with the soonest appointment. St George’s was quickest for us. Good luck xx
