I unfortunately miscarried at 7 +3 weeks in December. Since then I started my first period after the miscarriage last Sunday 17th Jan which was 33 days after the miscarriage started. It's been heavy and different to usual but otherwise I've not really had any usual cramping or PMS before it came along. I am still getting faint positives on some brands of pregnancy tests but negatives on others so just waiting for them all to return negative but hoping with my period coming this will be soon.
The doctor has said as my HCG levels have been going down they don't need to scan (think this partly due to Covid as obviously limiting people in for appointments.) Has anyone had a private scan post miscarriage to check whether any tissue is remaining and that everything looks okay?
Since day 5 of my period I've been getting some pelvic pain/soreness. It's sort of like a dull ache and heaviness in the region, sort of like having been punched in the stomach and doesn't come and go, is just there for the past 2 day. The doctor I spoke to today was reassuring and said that it sounded like my uterus region was just a bit sore due to the miscarriage and now my period but I'm a bit worried naturally and wanted to know whether this is 'normal' post miscarriage. Has anyone else experienced this and after their period ended it stopped?
The doctor offered to prescribe painkillers but it's not really painful so I declined as think I can get by with normal ibuprofen and paracetamol if I need. I did ask whether if this continued on for a certain amount of time should I call the doctors back but they said no. The think I'm most worried about is having an infection that goes on until it affects my fertility completely.
I have booked myself into a private pelvic/fertility scan but this isn't until early February as it needs to be when you aren't bleeding so hopefully this period will be ended by then although it's definitely seeming like it's going to be longer than usual.
Do you think I am just being a worrier booking myself in for a private scan? I'm wanting to start trying again as soon as possible so want to make sure I am healthy and this hasn't/won't impact my fertility at all.
