Can I get pregnant after a D&c?

Hi! I had a miscarriage which led to a d&c on 12/31/20. I was around 5-6 weeks. My husband and I are wanting to try again after my first menstrual cycle. The dr did mention to wait at least 4 cycles, but we are ready to start trying as soon as possible. Has anyone had any luck getting pregnant quickly after a d&c? Thanks in advance!

Yes! Very soon after! Probably first cycle

Yes you can.
But maybe give your body at least one cycle to recover a bit.

I dont understand why the Dr said 4 cycles. Unless you have specific medical reasons, its safe for most women to conceive right away.

You must:
wait until you stop bleeding (infection risk to have sex whilst cervix still part open)

Its best to:
wait until you have a negative pregnancy test
wait until after one period
(both because otherwise its hard to tell if a positive test is a new pregnancy or leftover hormones from the old one, and hard to tell when the new pregnancy began)

Some years ago I had a D & C at 13 weeks, although I suspect that the pregnancy had actually ended some weeks before. My then GP said that my body would accept a new pregnancy when it was ready and that after a D & C it was a very clean place for a new baby to implant. 6 weeks later I had a positive test and my baby is now 31. Probably not the advice currently given but I wish you well :)

That's great that you were able to get pregnant so fast after the surgery! My dr said to wait 4 cycles but I think my husband and I are going to go for it after my first cycle. We both feel ready
