Periods after miscarriage

I'm on my 3rd period since my miscarriage and am more or less back to normal in terms of cycle length etc but this time I have had awful cramping , but cramping that feels different to normal leriod cramping I can't quite explain it and has been non stop for about 36 hours, just wondered if anyone else had experienced this?

My periods took a while to settle down after my miscarriage - they were roughly normal cycle length but much lighter for a while and I noticed I had more painful cramping before they began.

I asked my GP about it and she said that basically anything is normal after a miscarriage - your cycle can be different (heavier, lighter, more or less painful) but usually settles down to what it was before your loss, within six months.

Interestingly after five months my periods settled down to 'normal' and that's the month that I conceived again.

I think the only warning sign to look out for is if you have painful cramps when your period is due, but no bleeding. This can be a sign of Asherman's syndrome, caused by scarring in the womb. But this is very rare and it sounds like your periods have returned so I don't think you have anything to worry about. But you could check with your GP for reassurance.

i am on 6th period but still period flow is less and painful plus i had moderna vaccine in between may be it could be the reason of less period flow.

Hi appreciate that this thread is old but was just looking for some advice / reassurance. I suffered my first miscarriage in October and then went on to have my first period following miscarriage when it was expect (e.g. about 5 weeks after the miscarriage) but the period just doesn’t seem to be ending, it’s day 12 now and I’m still spotting?
Is the ok or should I be concerned? Keep to start ttc again really but it feels like everything is against us!

Hi I am sharing my experience with you hope it’s help and relax your mind.
I bleed more than 40 days after miscarriage got my period 4 week after following miscarriage and then on and off spotting and end after 2nd period gp told me it’s normal nothing to be worried about they suggested me to wait once my pregnancy hormones come into zero you can try again after.
I suggest you please talk to your gp if you have any concern for the peace of your mind

Thank you @jab32 for sharing your experience. It’s just difficult to know what normal and what’s not isn’t it but I guess everyone is deferent!
