Need some personal experience please??

This is my first and hopefully last miscarriage, I am now on day 9 of heavy bleeding and the cramps has intensified so much.

I had a blighted ovum, found out at 10 weeks but miscarried at almost 12 weeks, the bleeding has been quite heavy with clots but the pain had eased over past few days but today is really really bad,

Any past experiences or advice? Xox

Hi lovely 💐 firstly - I’m so sorry you have found yourself here. Be assured that you are not alone.

I miscarried at 9 weeks at the beginning of December - and my bleeding lasted for 7 days. What I will say is that there was a slight “dip” in my symptoms, days 4-5 eased and then 6-7 picked up massively - and it was the 6th day where I passed the sac and ended up going to the EPU as I couldn’t bare the pain any longer. So as you were at 12 weeks 9 days does not seem too surprising I’m afraid as you were further along. It was also my first pg/miscarriage so you have my utmost empathy.

You will get through it and you will start to feel better I promise you that. It’s nearly 6 weeks in for me and although I’m still devastated it’s happened - the initial heartbreak isn’t so raw.

I was prescribed codeine for the pain by the EPU - so if you are really struggling give them a call. If you are filling more than a pad an hour you must ring them - that’s what I was told. It could be where you just have a small amount of tissue left over, but you must monitor it to avoid getting an infection. Even with everything going on with Covid - don’t feel you have to avoid speaking to the hospital it is so important that you do. I would say give them a call, and explain that if you’re no better by the morning go and see someone xx

I'm so sorry for your loss. It's an awful thing to go through.

I was pregnant with twins and had a miscarriage at about 11 weeks. I bled for about 3 months. Had multiple scans to find out why. They could only see small products of conception left but not enough for an op. They ended up giving me Tranexamic Acid which worked quite quickly..

The actual miscarriage where I was in pain lasted about 4 days though. I would go to your early pregnancy clinic to ask for advice.
