Miscarriage

Hi,

I had a confirmed missed miscarriage a couple of weeks ago and as I had started spotting I decided to see what happened naturally.

I passed what I believe to be the tissue last Monday/Tuesday and bleeding has tapered off each day. However, i am now at the point where I can have virtually no bleeding during the day but each evening I am getting quite painful cramps which increases the bleeding.

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced cramps in the evening like this and whether it is normal a week or so after passing main tissue to still be experiencing this?

Thank you

Hi

I had a medically managed miscarriage , at what should have been 7 weeks. It sounds similar though - I had four tablets to take to bring it on, 48 hours after taking a “primer” medication to soften my cervix, but actually started to bleed and have clots before taking the main four.

My experience sounds similar to yours, except it happened over three days and each night I would have cramps and then pass clots. The pain would ease immediately afterwards and I’d think it must be finished (they were several big clots and I found it hard to believe there could be anything left in there!).

However, on day 3 the cramps started up again so I decided to take the other tablets I’d been given after all (I’d held off as thought I wouldn’t need them after all) as I realised there must still be something in there for me to keep cramping like that.

A couple of hours later I passed the final one and somehow knew that was finally it as the pain stopped and I felt a sense of relief that I hadn’t had so far, a bit hard to explain but a physical relief and a feeling of it all being over.

Have still had bleeding and period type pains, but not the contraction like cramps.

So, based only on my experience, it sounds like maybe you haven’t passed everything yet.

I’m sorry for your loss Flowers

And it went on from about 8.30pm - 1am on all three evenings, starting up like clockwork! I have no idea if it happening in the evenings is normal, but I noticed you said that is when it starts up again.

Mine went on for weeks and the sac continued to grow. After a number of the pills I had to have the surgery and kinda wished I’d opted for that originally - all of the women I met at the hospital told me the same advice, if in doubt have a scan to see that everything has passed. It puts your mind at rest and if you are trying again ensures you are in the best position.
