Period after miscarriage

Hi all. I'm an old newbie here (haven't posted for 2 years)
So on the 25th Nov i started to miscarry-took abortion pills as it was a mmc. Passed everything that day i was around 7 weeks.

I have a regular 26-28 day cycle and I'm desperate to get my af so i know my body is getting back to normal and can resume ttc.

So I'm just curious as to when people started to get there periods back after miscarriage or abortion.
It's been 4 weeks today since i passed the pregnancy and had slight brown/pink discharge 🙈 this morning.
My hpt's (yes, I'm obsessed with checking) are just about the faintest lines now so I'm presuming hcg is very low.

I've read many threads on the internet where some say they got af right away, others it's took months so I'm just curious really.

We dtd at 11 & 20 days past miscarriage. Obviously i know theres no way I can get pregnant but i feel like I'm becoming obsessed and hoping I'm one of the rare ones where it does happen. I know I've gone crazy 😂

Hi, I had a miscarriage on 18th Nov - sorry for your loss. My period finally came on Xmas Eve - the gift I didn’t want but at the same time did if you know what I mean. Mine was just over 5 weeks. My cycles are 24 days and my period normally lasts 24 hours and very light. This one was the same as my periods before my miscarriage. Hope you’re comes soon so you can get on track. It’s horrible isn’t it :(

Sorry for your loss too. Haha, yes i know what you mean. You don't want that af but at the same time it's reassuring knowing everything is back to normal now.

So I've been testing (still obsessed) and I've been getting very very faint positives (where you have to squint) and some negatives. However this morning ive done a digital cb weeks indicator to put my mind at east and hoping for the 'not pregnant' so i can stop going crazy. Anyway it cane back with pregnant 1-2 weeks. It's very unlikely it's a new pregnancy as i don't think I've ovulated yet. I did have sex about 2 weeks ago 🤷‍♀️ i think I'll do another digital test in a weeks time.
The negatives and faint positives I've been getting are the cheap test strips that detect from 10miu. The cb detects from 25 plus. I'm genuinely confused 😂

@Rachyb87 sorry to hear what you are going through. What happens if you try testing with the same ones you were getting faint positives/negatives on? If the same brand of test is getting stronger it could well be a new pregnancy? I had a MMC on Monday and am waiting for surgery on Wednesday, so will then be in the same position. So odd wanting tests to be negative now not positive 😭😭 good luck! X

Rachyb87 · 27/12/2020 09:16

@AMS19
Well for some reason i didn't think to do both tests at the same time so i will use the strips tomorrow. Obviously I'm hoping it's a new pregnancy but I'm not getting my hopes up. If it's still old hcg then it's taking it's bloody time to come down. I was only 7 weeks when mc and it will be 5 weeks on Wednesday, also vaginal us showed empty uterus after 3 weeks. It's actually crazy how crazy we get.

Oh I'm really sorry to hear that. I hope your ok? I had a mmc 7 years ago and too had to have a d&c. I imagine you just want it over now?

AMS19 · 27/12/2020 09:23

@Rachyb87 fingers crossed for you. Did you have a baby in-between your MMC and currently miscarriage? I'm so sorry you've gone through it twice. I'm not sure how I would cope a second time, first is bad enough.

Yeah so keen to have the surgery done and not be "pregnant anymore". I still have nausea so it is horrible feeling sick for no reason now. Once thr surgery is done at least I can focus my energy on trying again as soon as my tests go negative

Hopefulmummie · 28/12/2020 10:31

Hi. I had a miscarriage at 8 weeks on 3rd December. I thought my period would have arrived this weeks as it's 4 weeks after miscarriage. Today I've had really sharp pains and been getting higher ovulation results. So wondering could it be ovulation?

Rachyb87 · 28/12/2020 11:32

@Hopefulmummie I'm sorry to hear about your loss 🙄. You weren't far off me then, i was like a week before you when i mc.

I'd imagine now at 4 weeks post mc your gearing up for ovulation maybe or af. Higher ovulation results sounds promising though. Fingers crossed for you.

So I'll be 5 weeks on wed since the mc and today I've had some bleeding and cramps so pretty sure it's af. Yesterday though i got a positive clear blue and said 1-2 weeks. So confused right now. I got my hopes up but at least once this af has been I'll know where i am with my cycles.

I'm not even sure i ovulated before this period as i neber noticed any cm. I did get a positive ovulation but I'm certain that was just left over hcg as pregnancy tests were still faint then.

I'm still holding out that I'm pregnant though. I'll see how the bleeding goes. I remember bleeding for a day before i got pregnant with mc I've just had. Thought it was period but must have been implantation.

Are you tracking your cycle?

OP posts:
Rachyb87 · 28/12/2020 11:39

@AMS19 yea i did. I had mmc 7 yrs ago then 3 months later i was pregnant with dd who's almost 7 and then the recent one.

I've started bleeding today so I'm sure it's af but we'll see. I'm trying not to stress over it but it's hard. I'm obsessed right now. Constantly googling stuff that i already know 😂😂 I'll monitor my bleeding and if it seems like a regular af then I'll treat it as one. If not then I'll test again next week.

Yes that's a ggod mind set to have. Once it's over you can focus on ttc again. I always believe mc happen for a good reason. Thee body is amazing at recognizing when something isn't right. As harsh as it is. When do you have your surgery?

Chanel05 · 28/12/2020 11:44

Sorry for your loss @Rachyb87. I had a mmc in April last year and got my period 41 days after my surgical management. My next cycle was 39 days, then 36 and then anything between 30-35, they never really settled again properly until I conceived in December 2019.

AMS19 · 28/12/2020 12:01

@Rachyb87 oh no I'm sorry if it is AF. Could it be implantation? It really is such an emotional rollacoster. Surgery is Wednesday so 2 more days to get through. In one way Christmas has been the worst time for this to happen. But it has also been good timing not working so I can not have to focus on anything. Literally spending my days in my PJs feeling sorry for myself. I'll snap out of it in the new year I'm sure

Rachyb87 · 28/12/2020 12:15

@AMS19 well there's nothing wrong with feeling sorry for yourself what so ever. It's still a grieving process, no matter how far the pregnancy did or didn't get. If you want to slob on your pjs then go for it haha.
Good luck with your surgery. When i had mine i recovered pretty quickly and had just a little spotting for a few days. Are you still bleeding now?

It's possible it is implantation but because i dont know when i ovulated it's hard to tell. So strange though because the cb detects levels above 25 and came out positive but the cheap ones that detect 10ml came out negative. Maybe the cb was a faulty one. Who knows. I do feel like it's af though as i feel achy down there 🙄

@Chanel05
Oh really? How where your cycles before the mc? I have a textbook 28 day cycle. From the start of my mc to the bleed today it has been 33 days.

Sorry for your loss too.
I just hope they go back to normal pretty soon so I'm not guessing and hoping when I'll ovulate etc

AMS19 · 28/12/2020 12:56

@Rachyb87 I havent had any bleeding at all. I'm 10+5 and I think I lost the baby around 7ish weeks (hard to tell as I saw a baby with a heartbeat at 6+5 but no there is no embryo so it has been reabsorbed) but my body still thinks it is pregnant! I have still got all the pregnancy symptoms, my body has no idea there is no baby anymore!

Tina8800 · 30/12/2020 10:10

I am sorry for your loss!
I had a miscarriage on the 12th of November. After the scan confirmed that is all clear and pregnancy test was negative, we started to try for a baby. I used ovulation sticks every day, without any positive result. I got my period exactly 4 weeks after a MC. It was very strange (much stronger and a lots of clots) so I guess my body just needed to completely clear out before it could ovulate again. This month I got my positive results on the ovulation stick.
I also hoped I was one of the rare ones who gets pregnant two weeks after the MC and I got really scared when I did not ovulate at all.
Just wanted to share so if you dont ovulate in the first cycle dont get scared. Looks like for some of us our body just needs a first (maybe few) period to recover.

Rachyb87 · 30/12/2020 11:53

@AMS19 i hope all goes well with the surgery today. I'll be thinking of you. Look after yourself.

@Tina8800 sorry for your loss also.
I've heard that periods can be very heavy afterwards or even very light because theres not much lining. I bet you were so relieved to get your af.
Oh I've been one of those who wishes I'd get pregnant 2 weeks later... yea right 😂 i honestly think it makes us crazy!

I tested positive with a cb (1-2 weeks on sunday) then started bleeding on monday. Tested a clear positive with first response on tues. I'm just confused as i thought levels had to be below 5 or zero for af to come. Guess not. 5 weeks today and i still have hcg floating around. So annoying

Did you dtd during your ovulation?

OP posts:
Chanel05 · 30/12/2020 12:44

@Rachyb87 my cycles used to be anything between 31-35 days before I fell pregnant. Although not exactly the same each time, still in the "normal" bracket.

Namechangedforthisoct2 · 30/12/2020 12:52

I miscarried 27th Nov at 11 weeks 5 days and period arrived last night / today so just over 30 days after miscarriage.

Sorry for your loss, it’s a shitty thing to go through x

Tina8800 · 30/12/2020 13:00

Did you get an other scan after taking the pill? My pregnancy test were negative after 2 weeks but looked like still some things left in (as my period was nearly as bad as the MC). They suggested me if the test remains positive after 3 weeks go back for check-up. 5 weeks later must be so upsetting!
I did ovulation tests and were positive on the 26th and 27th. Was the worst timing as we stayed with family and also drunk a lot :D We dtd both days so I hope we did not miss the window. Now waiting, and hoping of course. I will try to not get upset as I believe our body needs a long time to recover after MC...

Rachyb87 · 30/12/2020 14:02

Yes i had a scan 3 weeks later and my uterus was empty as she put it 😂 it's so annoying. I just want to get back to normal asap. I'm going to test again on fri with first responce and see if the line gets darker or fainter, I'm pursuming lighter if im on my period.

Yes yours sounds like your lining shedding the remainder which is good i guess.
Ooh so your in your tww now... it's torture. Hopefully this cycle is the one that sticks 🙂
