How many weeks can it take for endometrial lining to thin to normal?

Hi all,

I had a miscarriage at 10 weeks 3 weeks ago, within 2 days I passed everything including the sac, and a scan a few days later showed a small clot remaining. This then passed in the following days, so about 7 days of heavy period like bleeding in total, then reduced to spotting, and pregnancy tests getting progressively lighter to almost nothing.

At a follow up scan 2 weeks later a few days ago the endometrial lining was 17mm in some places, 2mm more than the max they'd like. I was given misoprostol, I took it, and nothing has happened at all. From what I've read online and some research articles the thickened lining isn't uncommon and doesn't necessarily need dealing with yet, and often resolves naturally. But the hospital want me to do a D&C sooner rather than later, which I logistically can't agree to until into January as I don't have any childcare during opening hours until then.

Has anyone any experience of the lining thinning naturally to a normal level over 3-6 weeks post miscarriage? I am booked in for a follow up scan in early January so am truly hoping I might go to that and it will have resolved and avoid D&C.

Thanks for any advice.
