Still not feeling right 3 weeks after miscarriage

3 weeks ago I had a natural miscarriage at 6 weeks. Bleeding stopped after a week however I am still having on off of nausea, occasional headaches and ear pain. The main issue is I have had constant dizziness consistently for these 3 weeks and am having to work from home as I am not able to drive. I have been to the GP and am waiting on blood test results, but have in the mean time ruled out possible ear infections causing the dizziness and eyes at the opticians. Just wondering if as anyone else experienced constant dizziness after miscarriage or similar?

First of all, so sorry that you’ve had a miscarriage, it’s hard enough as it is even if there aren’t any lingering issues. I’m also about 3 weeks post miscarriage and have on off nausea and headaches, with a bit a light headed-ness. I’ve put it down to my hormones still not having gone back to normal as I’m still testing positive on home tests I’ve done. Could be your hormones - have you done a pregnancy test yet to check if your hcg levels are still high?

I'm so sorry to hear you are in the same situation, it really is awful to say the least I did think hormones too, however I didn't have this response with my previous two miscarriages which is what I am finding strange, but I suppose nothing is straight forward with pregnancy loss! I took a pregnancy test around 5 days ago and it came back negative but these symptoms seem to be lingering..

I guess even if the hcg levels are back to normal, your hormones could still be up and down? Or iron levels maybe, hopefully the blood test will either shine some light on it or the symptoms will just disappear on their own. You’re right nothing is straight forward in pregnancy loss! Sorry this is your 3rd, that’s awful! 😢

I received the blood results today and all fine apart from vitamin D but that wasn't surprising as I have had to take supplements for this for a few years now. But I think you're right about it still just being hormones. Maybe once we've gone through a complete cycle it will all level out and symptoms calm done. Are you feeling any better? Thank you, definitely not ideal but trying to stay hopeful!

Funnily enough I had terrible dizziness after miscarriage for about a month after the bleeding stopped.
At first I put it down to the large volumes of gas & air I sucked on and the lingering effects of the morphine I was given during the actual miscarriage.
The pain was very bad.
But it puzzled me why the dizziness lasted for so long.
Anyway, it settled by itself with no Drs appointments or intervention needed, I just kind of waited it out, drank loads of water, ate healthy, took vitamin supplements, slept when I could.
No idea of the cause.

@Jessem1 hopefully your symptoms calm soon! yes I’m ok thanks, have to do a pregnancy test on Tuesday and if it’s still positive, will go back for another scan. I think a miscarriage is definitely a huge thing for the body to go through and so it’s not surprising that there are lingering side effects for a while! I think @Pickypolly definitely has the right idea - lots of water, vitamins, healthy eating and taking it easy until the body recovers. So hard though when all I want to do is eat chocolate and get a take away! 🙈

@Pickypolly I'm so sorry to hear you've been through this too but I really appreciate your reply and glad I'm not the only one to be puzzled by the dizziness, it's not a symptom I've seen spoken about much on other forums. I will definitely take your advice and keep trying to stay really hydrated and keeping up with the supplements.

@KJ1984 thank you and yours too! you're right, miscarriage is definitely a big trauma for the body to go through no matter how far along you are, so probably just need to let my body settle, although being in lockdown doesn't help much for trying to take your mind off things. As for the chocolate - go for it! If now isn't the time for some treats and TLC I don't know when is!

Hi so I got pregnant when I took a pregnancy test it was very faint 4 days later I started to bleed lasted 5 days so I went to hospital the said my hormone levels was 37. So the said it was a failed pregnancy and to repeat the pregnancy test in 2 weeks time so I did and the test was still positive so I left it another week and tested again and it was still positive so I rang hospital the booked me in for a scan and the was nothing there so the did a pregnancy test came back very strong positive so the checked my hormone levels again and it came back as 600 I did start trying again after the bleed stoped so I’m actually so confused on what’s actually going on

Hi there! I know this was ages ago for you now, but I am currently experiencing almost exactly the same thing post-miscarriage. Have had an iron infusion, but it hasn't helped. I wondered if you ever found out what was causing your symptoms?

Sorry to hear about your miscarriage, hope you’re doing okay?
They didn’t end up following up on the dizziness and it was sort of treated as ‘just one of those things’. However I had dizzy spells again recently and found out it was actually down to low folate levels, so might be worth asking for a blood test to check your levels? They put me on high dosage supplements for a couple of months and it’s really helped.
