Miscarriage experience / is this normal?

I am having a miscarriage, had a private scan on Monday which showed no heart beat (I would have been 10 weeks) stopped growing at 8 weeks. Booked into EPAU on Wednesday and things started naturally Wednesday morning. There was a lot, clots etc and every time I stood up there were gushes (including in the hospital car park and soaked through my trousers). They scanned me at EPAU snd said I still had a lot to pass including the sac. Since Wednesday it's calmed down though. My HCG level on Wednesday had dropped by half compared to sunday. EPAU are due to take further bloods next week (Wednesday).
I'm asking, is it normal for the bleeding to calm down and will it increase again? I presume so as surely I still have a lot to pass?

So sorry for your loss Thanks

I think it can vary, I had a lot of bleeding the first couple of days (I had medical management and the first day was awful) then I thought it had calmed down but it seemed to ramp back up and I bleed heavy for about 10 days solid. Bleeding stopped after 2 weeks.

It's good that the EPU are monitoring it and will make sure you've passed everything and your hcg is low enough before discharging you.

Thank you @Rumples for replying. EPAU seemed to think I would pass everything quite quickly based on how much I was bleeding yesterday. But guess keep seeing how it goes and review next Wednesday.

@smarty4 that's all you can do. Everyone is different but from my experience with my EPU, you'll be taken care of and they'll be able to reassure you if you're worried about anything. Take care x
