Surgical Management for Miscarriage Aftercare

Hi everyone,

I had surgical management for a miscarriage 2 days ago and wasn’t really given any advice/info on aftercare and what I can and can’t do..
Google are showing some different things so I’m wondering when am I allowed to take a bath etc?

If anyone has gone through this can you remember the dos and don’ts?

Thanks in advance

I only have showers in my house so stuck to that (sorry that's not helpful).

I was told to take it easy for a few days because of the anesthetic but in all honesty within 72 hours I was physically fine.

I think I’ll just stick to showers for a week or 2 just to be safe
I physically feel fine apart from the tiredness. I don’t think I’ve ever felt this tired in my life! X

I had surgery two weeks ago, I just showered and took a week off work to reset and allow myself to grieve as it all happened so quick.

I did bleed lightly for over 2 weeks, had minor stomach cramps.

I had 3 surgical procedures for mmc. I was never given any after care advice. All 3 times I ended up with some kind of infection and ended up on antibiotics.
My dr told me after the 3rd one that it was likely because i was bathing and not showing for a week after.
I prob should have thought about it myself but was annoyed I hadn't been given such simple advice at the hospital.

Sorry to hear that.
I was surprised at how little information they gave me, even throughout finding out what was happening with the pregnancy. It kinda felt like they just assumed we’d know as it’s quite a common thing, like just cause they deal with it regularly we should know too.
This website has been a god send tbh!
