How long did it take for the bleeding to start?

Hello

I went for a private scan on Friday. The midwives said I was about 6.5 weeks my dates make me 7.5 weeks so very possible.
The gestation sac measured 6.4 weeks. There was a fetal Pole that measured 6.3 weeks. Sorry I don’t have the measurements in mm and there was no heartbeat.

I just wondered if anyone has had simular and how long did it take for your body to start the process naturally?

I am waiting for an appointment in EPU to confirm the private scans findings, but I wanted to go with a slight plan in the back of my mind. I don’t want to walk around waiting for it to happen for weeks when I could have medical management to try to speed the process up abit as I am not coping very well with this at all.

Thank you ladies x

Hi,
Similar to
You, I knew at 6 weeks that the pregnancy was going to end and opted to wait for nature to take its course. I eventually began to bleed and miscarried at 13 weeks.

Each miscarriage I had after that I chose medical management as that wait was nothing short of torture.

Medical management was not a picnic either, horrific in fact.

Many people on here recommend the surgical route for the least amount of pain, bleeding, and getting back to normal.
Best of luck Flowers

Hi so sorry you're going through this. It's awful and you don't have to pretend to be strong. Have they definitely said there should be a heartbeat by now? It may be that it's just too early. The EPU told me that the body often does what it needs to do once its had bad news, I was told on a Friday, started bleeding on the Sunday and miscarried on the Monday. I was meant to go for medical management the following day. So not long at all. I was a bit further on though. Best wishes x

Thank you both for replying, there should be a heartbeat at that stage of development it’s not just too early. Also the yolk sac was measuring just over 10 mm which isn’t a good sign.

Sounds crazy but I have begged my body to do what it has to do and hope it is soon, I don’t want to go to work next week and then suddenly start to bleed at work and be in pain - then try to leave as that won’t be easy.

I honestly can’t think any of it is easy, painless and not traumatic. I just want it over with. I should hear from EPU on Monday so will
Probably get an appointment towards the end of the week as it will be 7-10
Days from Friday or the following week.

Aw no sorry it's definite. If it helps I've found that bleeding/any pain starts slow like a period so you may be able to go home before anything happens. I wouldn't have wanted to be in work though, can you take some time off? Although maybe you'll find that working would distract you. I'm so sorry.

So sorry you're going through thisThanks. I was in the same position in feb, I opted for medical management at 9 weeks (baby stopped growing at 6+1). I had no spotting or any signs of a miscarriage starting naturally so I think I would have been waiting a fair while. I opted for the tablets... first round didn't work so went back 48 hours later and they worked. Although it wasn't nice I definitely would do the same again if I found myself in that position, I didn't fancy the other options personally but everyone is different. For me the tablets weren't as bad as I had braced myself for and I was pleased to move things along as the bleeding still lasted a few weeks. Hope you get on OK. Sending love x

I will take time off but don’t want to be off next week if nothing happens and it all happens the week after - I know I can’t plan for this, but I am not a good person at being not ok. Think I will go to work Monday if nothing happens tomorrow (wishful thinking!!)
Call epu and see what they say on Monday. I have a meeting on Wednesday which I need to be in for but after that think I will go off sick.

Thank your for your replies - I don’t know if they will offer MVA due to Covid but to be fair I will take what ever is offered as I can’t spend weeks waiting for something to happen the uncertainty of
Waiting is too stressful.

Hi @ShinyBadger so sorry to read your bad news.

I had a similar thing a few weeks ago. I had to have 2 scans with the EPU which was torture enough as I knew the pregnancy wasn't viable. I asked for medical management as soon as it was confirmed and they gave it me there and then.

I found out I was going to miscarry on 27/09 at 7 weeks and nothing happened until 14/10 when I was given the tablets.

I hope they can confirm it for you asap so you can get the process started.

ShinyBadger · 07/11/2020 18:39

@Rumples sorry for your loss too. Flowers

It’s totally rubbish isn’t it. It’s hard as we never wanted to have children and then I fell pregnant a complete shock, it’s been a tough few weeks as we had just got our heads round it and started to feel that this would be ok, we can be parents and we can do it and then bang it’s all over like that..... but then will take ages to officially be over while I have scans, treatment etc. I just don’t have the strength to deal with this right now.

Thank you for sharing your story with me, I wish you all the best for the future.

Hi, I'm sorry you are going through this.

It's different for everyone, but in my experience (x3) the bleeding has been gradual. I was spotting brown for over a week, with odd bit of red, then on Monday I had a scan which showed the heartbeat had stopped then the bleeding got worse Wednesday and I miscarried on Thursday. The other times I also had over a week of light bleeding before anything happened. Just a word of warning, it doesn't all necessarily come out at once. It did the first time for me, the second it was over two loo trips, and this time was four. You do sort of feel when it's all over though. Make sure you have night time pads and ibuprofen to hand Thanks and take the time you need to rest up afterwards (I haven't left the sofa since)

Daffodil21 · 08/11/2020 01:15

Just to add, I opted for natural because the bleeding had started to get gradually worse, so I knew it would probably happen naturally. I actually didn't expect it to happen as soon as it did until the night before

Flittingaboutagain · 08/11/2020 01:22

I didn't bleed and couldn't stand waiting anymore so had medical management. It didn't work and I had it a few times in the end at 13 weeks, an added trauma that I hope isn't necessary for you.

I'm so sorry OP. I found Simba and the Miscarriage Association really helpful.

Maryann1975 · 08/11/2020 01:26

I’m so sorry you are going through this.
I had a scan that showed the same thing yours has, no heartbeat at 7.5 weeks. I was devastated. They booked me in for a week later to confirm what had happened. To be honest, it never occurred to me that I could start bleeding at any point during that week. I had already decided I was going to go down the surgery option And I think I would have been absolutely shocked if it had happened naturally after I had made my decision (because it never occurred to me that it would happen like that). Surgery was done 9 days after the original scan and I had very, very little bleeding afterwards. once I was taken to theatre, the whole thing was over very quickly, I didn’t have to stay in long afterwards, maybe a couple of hours and then I was back home to recover there.

Thank you all for your kind messages.
Currently have my work head on and don’t think about it at all. It’s been nearly a week since I found out and have to go back to epu on Monday. I still haven’t started bleed yet. I kind of hope that it happens over the weekend but i don’t think it will. I will see what they say on Monday.
