Miscarriage at 8 weeks advice

Hello everyone. UK only please!

Found out I was pregnant 4 weeks ago. Rate from my last period says I am now 8 weeks and 5 days.

2 days ago I started cramping really bad with heavy bleeding. I'm assuming I've miscarried. I called my doctor to tell them to cancel my first midwife appointment and she said that's fine, sorry for my circumstances etc... I've never had a miscarriage before and I am heartbroken. Can anyone tell me the usual procedure? I don't want to go into the doctors as I know I've had a miscarriage already. Im not experiencing any pain now just bleeding... can anyone tell me the usual procedure?

What can the doctors actually do for me at 8 weeks pregnant? I'd rather just get over it on my own than go and speak to the doctor about it etc... I know that if I miscarry and all of it doesn't come out then it can cause infection which I will watch out for, but what (if anything) would the doctors actually do for me right now?

Any advice is appreciated thank you!

Sorry for your loss. I have had 2 miscarriage in the past one at 12 weeks and one at 16 weeks. Both times I had to have a scan after to make sure everything had come away to avoid infection. I'm not sure if you need a scan at 8 weeks. Some people have periods all through their pregnancy so you need to be sure you have miscarried. Take it easy and try to get some rest.

I'd ring your GP and ask to be referred to the early pregnancy clinic. They can scan to check everything has come away and can offer advice on pain/bleeding. So sorry for your loss.

This happened to me too at 8 weeks. As previous poster says they may want to check to make sure you have miscarried, rather than assume that. In my case, it turned out that mine had been a twin pregnancy and I had miscarried one twin but not the other. I know this is very rare, so I am not saying it to give you false hope, but to emphasise that if they call you in for a scan or other check, please do go. They may need to check for pregnancy, potential infection risk etc. Sending hugs to you OP.

I would also suggest you go to the EPU so they can confirm.

I'm here for a handhold, I should be 8weeks 5 days today too, but the heart stopped beating and measures 6+6, so I'm just waiting for it to pass. This isn't my first so please ask me any questions you may have.

It's different for different women, but I'll share my experience with you so you have some idea of what to expect if the worst is happening. Basically I started brown spotting for a days, which turned to red and sort of into a period but heavier. Then eventually I passed everything. It sort of felt like a mini contraction I suppose, but not particularly painful, but I knew I had to get to the bathroom quickly. You will probably be able to see 'it' (Sorry, I don't know what you would be comfortable with me calling it) in the toilet. After this has happened, take a pregnancy test 2 weeks later. If it's still positive then you need to call the EPU because that would suggest that everything hasn't passed, which can cause infection.

In my experience, it is not a quick lead up. I had over a week of bleeding before everything passed the first two times, and I've had over a week of brown this time, but I'm not expecting it to pass for another week or two.

Do you think it had 'happened' yet? Are you still bleeding and cramping?

Sending sympathy, it really is shit Thanks
