Miscarriage and IVF - any experiences to share?

Hi everyone

I would love it if anyone could share their experiences if you have had a miscarriage and IVF afterwards.

On Friday during a routine scan where I should have been 10+5 I was diagnosed with a missed miscarriage, the baby had stopped growing at 8+2. It was a complete shock as I had no indication that anything was wrong, no bleeding/cramps etc and I still had pregnancy symptoms. The hospital has recommended ERPC (surgical management) which is scheduled for next week.

Does anyone have any experience of IVF working successfully after this procedure? We have a DS who is now 2 through IVF already. IVF will be our only option for pregnancy due to severe male infertility factor. We have two frozen embryos left but I am 40 now so time is not on my side unfortunately.

Would love to hear your experiences. Thanks so much

Sorry no personal experience, but I am pretty much in the exact same circumstances.
Have a two year old from IVF. Conceived naturally (huge surprise!) In July this year. Missed Miscarriage confirmed start of September at 10 weeks (baby was 8+4). Had the surgical procedure. Absolutely devastated Sad

We are looking at IVF in March next year but can only afford 1 go, maybe 2 at an absolute push (we had no embryos left to freeze) so worried it won't work.

We have male factor infertility too.

To answer your question, my sister has had two surgeries for MMCs, became pregnant 6 months after the last and had no problems at all carrying to term that time.

@TiptoestoMars Thanks so much for your reply. I am so sorry to hear that you are going through the same thing. It's really hard.

I am hoping to set up a consultation with our IVF clinic to discuss the next steps in the next month or two. I found one medical article which advised waiting for 6 months after the ERPC procedure before going for another round of IVF (to allow the lining of the womb to recover fully) but obviously want to ask the clinic about this too. I think I will also wait until spring next year before the next round though, to give my body a good chance to recover. I'll post an update here if I find out anything useful from the consultation.

Big hug to you in the meantime and I hope that you are doing ok. X
