Scan

I know it's not a sensible thing to do. But I've been wondering since we had a miscarriage a few weeks ago if the scan at 8 weeks was actually ok. When I look up on google. The scans don't look the same as the one we had. On ours. There is some sort of dark balloon next to the baby. Is that normal? It was a private scan and now I'm worried from bloody google that things weren't right even then

Sorry I can't help OP. Does dark mean liquid? So could have been the sac?
Sorry for your loss.

I'm really not sure. I can't remember what the sonographer said. Except he said all looked good. It's just playing on my mind now as when I look at other 8 week scans. They don't seem to have this sac next to them. Thank you x

Google SCH in scan to compare to yours. Sorry got your loss.

Thank you. Had a look. Doesn't look like it. Maybe it was the yolk sac. Just unsure whether it should've been there at that point. We've had no support since it happened from nhs

I have recently had a missed miscarriage too. In my scan (I was 9+3 but baby was measuring 6+5) my yolk sac had blown, so it was taking up a large part of the gestational sac. Just wondering if it could have been that? I'm sorry they haven't talked through what they saw and it's left you with questions. X

Mrsawhite, the dark balloon next to baby would have either been a haematoma, but the sonographer would have mentioned that, or more likely, it was your bladder. They can look absolutely huge on scans.

On my scan at 9 weeks I had this too, no explanation for it and my mum said it was the yolk sac. Never caused any problems and don't remember seeing it as my 11 week scan.
