Hi all I’ve posted quite a bit on here- long story short I had a MMC should have been around 9 weeks but baby stopped growing at 8. I went to the EPU today and had medical management at 12:30. When I came home I passed a few clots but have since stopped bleeding. Does anyone have any experience of this? How long did they take to work for you?

Yes I had last saturday and sunday. I passed everything. I spent 8 hours in the bathroom of the hospital in each side, and pushed as much as I can as if giving birth in every contraction. I took 3 separate doses of misoprostol. It was not like a heavy period and cramps were very heavy but I did not use the painkiller because you must feel the contractions and push as much as you. It is very painful but I did to avoid the d and c.

misoprostol started working in about 30 minutes... less than an hour. The peak cramps were in the 3 rd and 4 the hour and the cramps stoped in 8 hours. In Italy they give 3 doses, I passed the largest cloths in the first 8 hours... in your second dose push together with the cramps, and if you could bear the pain do not use the painkiller because feeling the cramps helped me understand for when to push. They did not tell me to push with cramps but I am a pharmacist and I know this drug induce a mechanical change in our body but we must help our body too... hope it helps I am not a native speaker so I tried to explain clear I dont know if I make sense. I am very sorry for your loss, I know how this feels, I am sorry

@littleangle46 thank you for sharing your experience, nearly 24hours later and still nothing. Going to ring the hospital this afternoon 😩

Sorry for your loss @Sophj19 and @littleangle46.

Did you get further advice @Sophj19?

I had medical management 5pm yesterday.
I have Endometriosis, so for me the pain was similar to a period when that is not controlled (After taking Paracetamol, Codeine & Dicolfenac suppository). I didn’t feel anything I could ‘push’ with, although never had full term pregnancy to compare to a contraction.

Pad changed and passed large clots every 1.5-2hours from 8pm to 4am. Then started to ease, now more similar to a ‘normal’ period.

Anyone know if that’s it? It felt like a huge amount of ‘stuff’ to pass, so I have fingers crossed that that is it.

@HopefulB that definitely sounds like what happened with my first miscarriage, I’m so sorry for your loss and hope you are taking some time for yourself ♥️

Unfortunately I ended up in a&e and they had to remove everything with forceps as I was bleeding uncontrollably, felt dizzy and faint and was in the worst pain I’d ever had. They gave me the medication the week before though and it clearly hasn’t worked xx

HopefulB · 22/07/2020 17:36

@Sallyjo27 Glad you got reviewed and that they could help, even if it sounds like it wasn’t a pleasant experience. Thank you for your kind words, I hope you’ve also had time to adjust and are starting to feel better.

I had a dose on Monday, & a dose yesterday & apart from minor cramps, Nothing has happened 😔

I rung the hospital earlier to tell them, & to say I desperately needed a day away from the hospital as it’s just too much right now (I’m being pathetic aren’t I - I did only find out about the mm on Monday) hoping for a call tomorrow.

I don’t want the surgery as they are only offering local anaesthetic due to covid 😔

littleangle46 · 23/07/2020 05:53

I was sure I passed everything after first 3 doses of the medical treatment in early july ... but 15 day scan revealed I still have palcenta tissue, vascular and 1 cm,... the endometrium is also about 18 mm... I now took 3 more misoprostol but no bleeding since 4 hours. I dont want the surgery either. I am miserable now. I cant understand why the scan 15 days ago showed a clear uterus and now I have the vascularization. I want to wait my period to arrive but my beta hcg is around 50, and ovaries seem silent, So this is my story. I feel cheated my babies heart stoped without a sign I , my medical treatment was such I feel awful.

HopefulB · 23/07/2020 07:38

Sorry for your loss @Sansa87.

Please don’t feel you’re being pathetic. As we can see from Just this thread, everyone’s bodies and emotions are different. I work at the hospital so it’s got much less of a link for me. Monday really isn’t long ago to adjust, be kind to yourself x

@littleangle46 Sorry to hear that. I too am wanting everything to return to ‘normal’ quickly. I haven’t been booked for a scan yet, I have a follow up telephone call only planned for next Thursday.

I was given methotrexate this morning and my bleeding started this afternoon. I'm not sure whether that's what's meant to happen or whether it's because my levels were dropping by themselves anyway. I still have some pain but paracetamol usually sorts it out. I'm meant to go back in for another blood test next week.
I was told that the body would reabsorb most of the material. Nobody mentioned pushing it out. That sounds horrible. (My first ectopic resolved itself but I was only 5 weeks and that was horrible enough...)

HopefulB · 24/07/2020 07:26

Sorry for your loss @Fuzzyspringroll

I had misoprostol, not sure how methotrexate compares.
